SOURCE: LG1717S - Power light flashing - no image.

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

I have a hp w2207 flat screen monitor. when turning power on, power blue light blinking and no picture. what can I check or look for to find and fix the problem?

That blue blinking light could be the fact that there is not a signal from the PC to the monitor itself. You could have lost your video card, corrupt driver for video card or monitor. If you have a PC with separate video card and a mother board video output, try switching to the one you are not using and rebooting the PC

Monitor goes off and on by itself

Hello bjaykaye,

The problems you are having are an indication of a Power Supply problem. The issue could be in the switching power supply or the High Voltage Power Supply. The shutdown circuit is activating which is allowing the TV to play until it detects an over-current event. When an over-current event happens the shutdown circuit will turn the TV off. I would suggest that you check the Horizontal Output Transistor, the HV Transformer, the Horizontal damper diode, and the capacitors that are in parallel to the damper diode. The important thing is to find the component that is causing the problem. If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest that you get a qualified electronics technician to look at the set.

Thank you,

Blue screen error tried to start in safe mode now wont come on

This is most likely the power supply. It could be some other things but the power supply is the cheapest thing to try unless you have the right stuff to test everything. In reality, it was nothing that you did. The uninstall of the program did not cause this. Also you should check the unit to be sure that it is clean. Dust can build up inside and cause over heating.

The problem is the power supply.
Open it and verify the fuse and after that check the capacitors.

Monitor appears to be in permanent standby mode - - black screen and blinking blue power light. It is a Gateway FPD2185W monitor. It will not turn off or on. Unplugging and re-plugging changes nothing. ...

Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply. I would replace all 10 with PANASONIC FM or FC series from DIGIKEY. Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

Blue power button flashing with blank screen

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's the problem. You can confirm that it's the monitor and not your computer or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.
