My HP 3180 printer/scanner will not scan. It will print. What can I do?

Follow these steps:

1. Hookup your multifuncional scanner.
2. Windows will recognize a new hardware
3. Install dirver and software taht came on the disc with CLX 3180
4. Put a document you want to scan into a scanner
5. Start software that you installed
6. Press Start Scan

Hi! Have you tried to test print your device? You can do that by pressing the print button on the device if it would test print. You may also check the device manager (click Start > right click My Computer > Properties > hardware > device manager) if the HP printer driver is installed properly.. if not, then contct HP for further help. You may also remove and reinstall the toner (use manual for the instructions) so that the alignment in printing would be fine,,,

Please go to run and enter "devmgmt.msc" you will get device manager remove all of the USB driver from the device manager and click on Scan for hardware changes. It will install all of the USB drivers. After that connect the all in on printer and install the driver properly.

install the hp solution centre from the cd that came with the printer.....it will give you all the options u require.....if you dont want to install the s/w then you can also scan from applications like MS Paint,word and also the windows photo gallery

Replace all ink cartridges to get a successful alignment.

I had the same problem with my HPc6280, go to www.hp.com/support and go to chat with them and they were very helpful for me.

You should uninstall the XP driver for the Printer and install this instead: HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers

You should use the uninstaller utility on the HP support page on the link provided, and after installing the new driver.

You can also scan and copy in Vista by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP C3180) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

The all in one solution software you used in XP doen't work with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

yes..that scanner issue keeps on popping up. has to do with the print command that's either compatible with the netgear standard, or it isn't..flukey, and not consistent..you might address netgear on this issue, but I've seen it before, actually..
