Access menu without remote on Toshiba 27AF44

I don't have the original manufactures remote control, and the universal controller that I purchased from Radio Shack worked for a while, but no longer works on the T.V. I need to access the menu feature in order to watch movies or play games on the set. What other options can I follow to gain access to menu.

SOURCE: My remote will not work

1# First unplug tv,unhook ant.let set overnight.2# Reconect ant.Plug back in.turn tv on with button on tv.let tv run trew all its modes for 5 to 6 hrs.Don`t push any buttons!!!!! It has to reset everything.then try remote, when it starts to work, set new pin code.use your instruction book,to set all blocks to N,,Clear all favorite channels + erase channels in tv 's memory if there in there yet, takes a lot of time.it will keep resetting, remote won't work.let it run awhile. then push exit, hold 5 to 10 seconds remote will eventually come back, check your settings reset them, be sure menu is set to STOP, it may start running threw all its modes again, let run couple hrs, then push exit 5 to 10 seconds to get your remote back.keep trying this. when you think the tv is working right, turn it off for 10 seconds then back on. If it starts resetting, let it run an hr,then push exit again to get your remote back,it has to reset everything, keep trying, took me 3DAYS to get it right!!!!!!!!! the only thing I don't have working is the pic size button,Don't need that anyway. GOOD LUCK.

SOURCE: My remote control on my toshiba 32

A lot of times it is the remote sensor in the set. These are good sets so I would have it checked out. Could be fairly cheap. Thanks for using fixya.

How can you get to the menu on a Toshiba tv without a remote

If you do not have a remote for your Toshiba TV, there are a few ways you can access the menu to change settings or perform other functions:
  1. Use the buttons on the TV: Some Toshiba TVs have buttons on the side or back of the TV that can be used to access the menu or perform other functions. Check the TV's manual or the label on the back of the TV to see if this is the case for your TV and which buttons to use.
  2. Use a universal remote: You can purchase a universal remote that is compatible with your Toshiba TV. These remotes can be programmed to control your TV, and can be used to access the menu and other functions.
  3. Connect a keyboard or mouse to the TV: If your TV has a USB port, you can connect a keyboard or mouse to the TV and use it to navigate the menu and other functions.
  4. Use a mobile app: Some Toshiba TVs can be controlled using a mobile app that can be downloaded to your smartphone or tablet. This app allows you to control your TV and access the menu without needing a remote.

How do I access the channel search without a remote control on a Toshiba model 27D47. The only buttons are Power, Volume and Channel.

Without a remote control, you can't as there is no Menu button at the front panel of this TV. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some on-line sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

Toshiba 27AF44 closed caption

It will be so related to universal remote controls. All buttons won't work with what it should be meant for. The only thing we can try, is to try an other setup code. Try that.

hello!if nobody "tweak" your codes, try 1111 or 0000. You need to be able to access "menu' off your remote control. Make sure, universal remote matches the manufactures. Better odds to hit "menu". good luck,Alex.

You can buy a universal remote, any best buy will carry one, I have even found cheap ones at dollar tree or dollarama. They come with a manual with the codes for the make of your TV just follow the coding instructions until you find the one that will operate your TV.

I have a Toshiba 27AF45 and a RC64 remote control which is not what comes with the TV. It works ok but I cannot figure out how to turn on the closed captioning feature. When I enable the menu I do not see...

Unfortunately, TVs don't always work with universal remotes. The original remote probably had a button to control the captions, and there may not be any other way to access those settings. If you can't find caption control settings using the on-screen menu, you are out of luck. The only options then are to try another brand or model of universal remote that may have a button which will work, or to locate a replacement original remote control.

Toshiba 24AF44

You need the original remote controller to be able to switch input modes.Universal ones usually don't work. If you don't have the original remote and can't find it ever or if it is too expensive you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your dvd player, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me. It placed the connection to channel 4 and other cable channels are still working,

You can buy the RF Modulator from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180299245670
