Toshiba TV Remote Control not working

My remote controls to my Toshiba TV stopped working yesterday. I have three different remotes to the TV, Once in a while I may get it to actually change the channel ,or turn the volume up or down. But it will only do it ramdomly and then it wont do it again. Ive reprogrammed my remotes, and changed the batteries in them, So I dont think thats the problem. Any Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.

The remote to our 36HF12 will not work with the TV. The first thing that happened is the volume was not able to be controlled by the remote and now the remote won't work on the TV at all. I know the remote is working because I can turn the VCR on and off with it. Any help?

  • unsprung Nov 28, 2007

All remote controls functions stop working. An other remote programed will also not control the tv. Appears to be the receiving side. Power off and then on did work the only time I have tried it. It will return after awhile.

My remote just stopped working. One day i was using it and it went out. All the functions on the remote was going in and out. One minute it work then the next minute it would not work. Then eventually the remote would not work for this tv. However, I have other Toshiba tv's and the remote work fine on thoses tv's. It's just this tv. Can somebody please help out? This is really frustrating.

The problem with my wt-42315 is not the contacts on the remote control. My TV stopped responding to my DirecTV remote control as well as the factory TV remote control. Does anyone know where the Infra Red receiver is located?

    Howdy,
A problem with my remote control for the Toshiba Cf32H40 tv,remote control model#CT9950 it wont turn on.I took the remote apart clean the contacts on the pad, change the batteries, i was gonna buy a replacement remote, but im not sure if the remote sensor in the tv might be bad.some hep would be great thank ya.

  • jennifer49 Apr 08, 2008

All remotes (TIVO, TV) do not work on ON/OFF , VOLUME and MUTE. They do work for channel changing.

I have changed all batteries, checked all leads. Given that 8 other owners of this TV have reported this problem, I think the problem is in the TV.

    Has anyone contacted Toshiba?

  • Anonymous Apr 12, 2008

Changed batteries, cleaned contacts, and finally got a new remote controller. The remote will not work to change the volume, nor will it control the power on/off switch.

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2008

I have the same problem. My remote stopped working. I tried battery replacement, recoding and even several other remotes including the original factory remote with no luck. Does anyone know of an easy (cheap) fix?

Ct-9727 Toshiba remote. Everything works except for the volume button on the remote.I can't seem to find any solution in my manual.I 'm not ready to get rid of the remote just yet. I also have a 2nd same remote that stopped working completely.I have put new batteries in both remotes.Any suggestions?

  • Anonymous Sep 22, 2008

It is not with the remote, it is in the TV. I read on 1 forum that the eye can have a bad solder connection, but I haven't checked into it.

  • iandaviot Nov 01, 2008

Tv remote works intermittently, i think its the tv that the problem. Any ideas on how to fix it?

  • smsjjr Dec 18, 2008

My Remote Was working Intermitantly, then stopped all together. Ive also changed batteries. The Remote for my dish network which was programmed to operate the unit quit as well, so I believe its the TV and not the remotes. Can this be repaired? My TV is 3 yrs old.

I have a Toshiba 36" Cinema Series 7years old TV where the remote stopped working. Other remotes stopped working as well. No question that it is the TV. I always thought Toshiba was a reliable product. Has anyone heard that Toshiba would make some sort of arrangement to fix their product free or at a reduce cost since many people appear to be having the same problem.

Haha! Now I really started loosing hope, and it turns out somebody pushed the dvd-button , so nothing on the remote control would respond to nothing.. I pushed the TV-button, and it was back to its youth. lol

Toshiba 13" tv vcr stopped responding to original remote. So I Was getting ready to remove screws but decided to give it a few knoks to the IR eye receiver in the front with the back of screw driver, if I'll have to replace anyways what the heck....might as well try. Nothing at first, a little harder and voila it came to life. Hope it helps.

I have been seeing a lot of Toshiba remote "eyes" (the infra-red receiver inside the TV) fail recently. If several known good remotes cannot control the TV then the IR receiver will have to be replaced. If you have no experience soldering and unsoldering PC boards then have a qualified tech handle it for you.

I unplugged my wt-42315, counted to 60, plugged it back in, and voila, the TV responded to all my remote controls again.

I have the exact same problem. Remote would work intermittenly and now has quick all together. I am unable to get the TV to work off of any universal remote. We aren't crazy, the eye has gone bad. I am calling a repair man. I'll let you know how much it costs :)

  • umesh108 Nov 03, 2010

stitzenbaum - How much did it cost you? I have the same problem. It is obviously the TV's IR reciever that is bad since neither the TV's remote nor any other Universal remote works

Have you tried cleaning the contact pad? Just open the remote, and you will find the contact pad. it is like a rubber sheet with contact terminals matching the locations of the various buttons.Just take a clean cloth and clean the contact points. Re-assemble the remote, put in new batteries, and reprogram the remote. it should work.

Just read these posts, took my batteries out of remote to take it all apart, then realised the battery springs were corroded, I scraped them with a knife, put batteries back in and it worked again. Good luck

I have a 40" Toshiba, it's just over a year old, the remote worked fine for about a month, then it stopped controlling the TV, nothing worked. I had to do everything manually for almost a year. I was thinking, I did have it delived, maybe a connection came loose, so I decided to take the unit apart. I check continuity with my meter, all circuits were fine. I did unplug the two connections to the sensor and in the Tv unit itself. I can't say for sure but maybe it did somekind of reset,or something was loose, because after that the remote worked!!! I hope it stays this way for a long time. It took a little time taking the Tv apart but it was worth it to get the remote working again.
I hope this post helps others with the same problem.
