How to get TV/video mode without remote

I have a Toshiba 14AF44 TV and I no longer have the remote control thats came with it. I have a universal remote that only functions to turn the TV on and off/changes channels/volume control. I have no idea how to get the TV into tv/video mode so I can watch DVDs and videos. Is there a way to do it manually???

We have the red mickey mouse t.v and have lost the remote...can I use a universal remote...but I can't find the brand name of the t.v? thx

You should be able to use a universal remote. If you can't locate the exact make and model of the tv, you should be able to program it by searching for the codes through the random seach process.

What make and model is the remote?

Do i need a remote to aquire the av input on the tv

I believe on the Toshiba 14AF44 that you can change inputs by using the channel button on the front of the TV, as well. Either channel down to the lowest channel and then channel down again to start going through the available inputs, or channel up to the highest channel and then channel up again to start going through the available inputs.
Hope this helps!
