Water fill The water will not go down into the machine from the water fill / detergent cup area. The water valves seem to work fine. There is no obstruction but the water will not go into machine and overfows onto the floor.

if you checked to make sure the cup is working and all you have to do is pull out the dispenser, add water,if it siphons the water from the cup then you might have a bad water valve, you can try to start the washer just on cold water,if it fills slowly and you can hear the water trickling in the valve is bad,now you have to see if it's the washer valve or house valve, shut off the house water supply, remove the hoses you can put a mark on one of the hoses and on the washer so you don't mix them up when you put them back on,now stick the hoses in a bucket and turn the water on,if it comes out strong you know it's the washer valve that's bad.so check the cup all it does is fill up and after it fills so much, the fluid goes up the tube in the cup and out into the other cup,if it does that then most likely the water isn't getting into the cup to do this.you can go here to see how it works, hope this helps you out and your dispenser might be different from this one but they all work the same way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ucp7EFbtZLk
just make sure the water passes through the tube in the cup

Evidently the detergent cup is opening? Here are some of the possible causes; 1. Low on water (fill the machine, let it start and see if the unit has enough water). Sometimes the screen on the fill valve get partially clogged and slows the flow and when the timer engages and therefore enough water was not installed. 2. Defective fill valve (partially sticking valve sometimes will not let a unit get the proper amount of water before the unit starts and therefore the powder in not dissolved). (3)Any detergent will generally dissolve when contacted with water, unless is has had previous contact with water or is old....
make sure b4 you start the machine run the water until it is hot then start the machine. let me know if it works by sending me a 4 thumbs up post. thanks
You either do not have enough water getting itno the machine or it is not hot enough. 5 years old so I would suspect a plugged screen on the fill valve. Eric

This is often the fill valve. You can test the fill valve coil for continuity with a ohm meter, no needle movement = bad fill valve. You can also test the fill valve for 120 volts at the fill valve with a volt meter, power there and no fill = bad fill valve. No 120 volts there, you will have to trace power back to find the trouble maker. Test things like the float and float switch, wires and timer. Fill valves are very bad for working once or twice and then quitting, if your dishwasher fills the first and second fill cycles and then no more water through the rest of the cycle, replace the fill valve. You will need to remove the access panels to get at the fill valve. Dishwasher fill valves also have a screen built into the valve entrance, this can also get all clogged up and need to be cleaned. --------also click on this link directly to get all types of troubleshooting instructions http://www.applianceaid.com/dish.html--------This will help. Not sure if you've ever resolved this issue, but I'm dealing with it myself. I have come across this service manual that gives a very detailed illustration of the systems, how it works and how to test it.
Focus on pages 15 thru 25. Hope this helps you. http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/16026126.pdf
Open dispenser drawer and push down on center plastic tab at back of dispenser to allow you to take dispenser out of machine. Take the plastic pieces off and clean them. (they need to be clean in order to siphon the bleach, softener, etc out. If there is water left in them, the water fill valve is OK. Cleaning should fix your problem. If you are using concentrated additives, try diluting them a bit with warm water when you add them to the dispenser. Remember, only one tablespoon (max) detergent, one teaspoon (max) fabric softener per load.
My GE Nautilus, Serial # GSD363F00W, Model # LA774908 is about 3 or 4 years old. I use it at least once a day. It has been working fine. Today I turned it on, red light came on, and I heard activity of some sort inside machine but no water came. Turned washer off, looked inside, no water. Turned machine back on, again heard some sort of activity but again no water came. Tried twisting the dial through the washing cycles, detergent cup dispensed detergent and dry heat come on, but no water.
wm-2277h. I have the same problem. Water won't go down hose from dispensor and leaks out the front. What could be blocking it?
