I have HP Color laser Jet 5500dn after the unusual sound it display 51. 2M PRINTER ERROR. What spare parts should i replace?

The error 51.2M is a laser error on this printer. M indicates that it relates to the Magenta toner cartridge. If the reset below does not work then you need to call HP support or just get a new original Magenta cartridge and it will work. A cold reset might resolve this issue if the printer does not have a laser hardware error.
I have provided the steps below to help you perform the steps.
Caution: The printer settings will go back to the default factory setting.
    1. Press the green (Select) button to continue.
    2. Turn the printer off.
    3. Perform a cold reset.
      1. Turn the printer on.
      2. Watch the control panel.
      3. When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button.
      4. Continue holding the green (Select) button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady.
      5. Release the (Select) button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.
      6. Press (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET.
      7. Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.
    4. If this message persists get a new Magenta Toner cartridge or contact an HP-authorized service or support provider.

How to reset expired hp 02 cartridge

I'm not sure what you mean by "reset" and whether you are speaking of ink jet or laser cartridges. From my experience all HP laser cartridges have a small chip (with a little circuitry) that counts down your pages and when it decides your cartridge is out of toner you cannot "reset" that chip, you can only replace it, so like when you refill the cartridge. Some of the HP laser printers let you override these toner level chips (my HP 1518ni does) but in many laser printers you are stuck when the chip counts down to '0' pages. Some printers will run if you remove the chip from the cartridge but from my experience most will not.
Ink jet cartridges are somewhat similar but I gave up on ink jet printers several years ago. I know for some brands (Epson?) you can buy a small tool that somehow resets the cartridge chip (so if you refill cartridges yourself); possibly there is something similar for HP ink jet cartridges.

The jet direct card is not showing up on the configuration page

Two possible problems:

1. Bad formatter, not liklely if you have used this printer with this jet direct card for a while and have not removed the card from the printer.

2. More likely either bad or in need of reset jet direct card. I am going out on a limb and guessing that you have a Jet Direct 615 card. There is a small chance that the card just needs to be reset. To do this you must perform a cold reset of the printer. Any custom tray settings that you have made will be lost during this process as will any network settings. To cold reset, turn printer off and unplug the network cable. Hold the "checkmark" key and power on the printer. Keep holding the key until all three leds turn on solid. Release the checkmark key and use the arrow keys until "COLD RESET" shows in the display. Press the checkmark key and until will perform a cold reset and restart. Plug your network cable back in and print a configuration page. If card is working again great, if not, it is likely that the card is dead and will require replacement.

If card does work, you will want to ensure that the Jet Direct card has current firmware on it. Use the HP Download Manager to update the firmware on your Jet Direct card.

Good Luck.

I have an error code 58.04 on my hp color laser jet cp3525n can you help me out to reslove this error

8.4 suggests that engine power supply failure. The engine power supply mounts in the middle of the machine under where the toner cartridge resides. Lots of work to get to, I'm afraid. Need a service manual? Check out the link below. . .

You could try cold reset:, if you can?
1. Turn printer off.

2. Hold the GO key

3. Turn printer on.

4. Continue to hold the GO key until the printer reads COLD RESET.

5. Release GO.

- INITIALIZING appears.

- Then, RESTORING FACTORY SETTING.

- Followed by OFFLINE.

6. Press the GO key to put back on line.

NOTE: A cold reset resets the HP Jetdirect card. Remove HP Jetdirect card before performing a cold reset

We can't get around this...

Firmware Error 49 by Stephen (edited 3/20/07 12:29 PM) reply + / -
It could be a bad job.

First disconnect it from your network and any PC it might be attached to.

Power cycle it, then if it goes to ready status try the built in test pages, do they work?

If the printer will go to ready status and you have a parallel cable with the proper connector, then you can try upgrading the firmware from a PC, you can also try to upgrade the firmware over the network.

Cold Reset HP Laser Jet 4250n by Stephen (3/20/07 1:03 PM) reply + / -
Try a cold reset, it will reset the JetDirect settings, but it's the next step.

Cold Reset:

Power off printer, wait about 5 seconds, then power it on, when asterisks start appearing on the display press and hold the check mark until all 3 lights come on solid, then use arrow keys to find cold reset and push check mark to perform the reset.

Thank You so much for your help... but that didn't work either. Same error code showed up.

Re: HP Laser Jet 4250n by Stephen (edited 3/20/07 2:27 PM) reply + / -
Then you probably need to replace the formatter.

Do you have another printer you can swap parts with?

There is a slim chance the memory DIMM is bad, you can try it with the DIMM removed, if there is more than one DIMM you can try installing just one and then the other.
-----------------------------

A 49 error indicates that the formatter could not understand or execute an instruction within a file or cannot interface with an accessory, DIMM, or EIO device. Troubleshooting 49 errors is done through process of elimination. First determine if the printer functions in a stand-alone mode then test communications to the printer.

These errors can be divided up into two categories; the associated troubleshooting depends on the circumstance the 49 errors are occurring.

A 49 error is always followed by Hexadecimal numbers, for instance, 49.00FF. The Hex code is a memory address. Most Hex codes are not documented.

Re: HP Laser Jet 4250n by dmzcompute (3/20/07 2:26 PM) reply + / -
I do not see anywhere where the printer has been disconected from everything. If you have not done so already disconnect every cable from the printer with the exception of the power cable and turn the printer back on and see if you get the error and if not report back here for further instructions.

Re: HP Laser Jet 4250n by Stephen (3/20/07 3:28 PM) reply + / -
You might also try disabling the embedded JetDirect.

To disable the embedded LAN port

Turn the printer power off.

Power on the printer and watch for the memory count to begin.

Hold down the SELECT (Checkmark) button, when you see the memory count begin.

Continue holding down the SELECT (Checkmark) button until all three printer control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds.

After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the UP ARROW button or the DOWN ARROW button until EMBEDDED LAN DISABLED appears on the display

Press the SELECT (Checkmark) button. The printer then continues its power-on sequence with the embedded LAN disabled.

If this works the JetDirect built into the formatter is bad, you can either replace the formatter, or buy an JetDirect to install in an EIO slot.

Re: HP Laser Jet 4250n by Trev Pearson (3/20/07 10:08 PM) reply + / -
The only other thing to try, before spending money, is to get the network administrator to clear the print queue for that particular printer and then turn it on.

The theory being that a 'corrupt' print job is still in the system and as soon as the printer is turned on, that 'corruption' floods the network card with garbage which promptly goes 49.

If the printer comes 'ready', great. Then do a firmware upgrade. If not, then you will have to spend money on a new formatter.

Trev

Hello i have hp color laser jet 4700dn printer when its print from computer its s howing message 49.3048 service error how can i solve this problem .please can u advace

This is a communication error. Make sure there isn't anything in the print que. If there is try deleting it. Unhook the printer from the network or computer and try and powercycle the printer. If that doesn't work try a cold reset. Turn the printer on and once the memory starts to count up press and hold the check button until the three lights light up and release then scroll down and hit the check mark on cold reset and see if the printer comes to ready. This will reset the IP address if the printer has one
