Do you have this problem if you try to feed the paper from the manual paper tray? Does this happen all the time or only once in a while? It may be that the paper feed rollers are slipping and this is throwing off the timing of the printer and it stops because it does not know where the paper is. If the printer will feed fine from manual then check the rollers in the tray 2 cavity. The white cored roller is the pickup roller and the blue cored roller is the feed roller. Clean both with a paper towel dampened with water. Post back what you find and I can assist further. Also make sure that the paper guides in the tray are set properly. The back stop on these trays has a habit of either sliding back or cracking.

Is the jetdirect card part number a 615n? If so, replace it with a 620N. The 615 cards were bad from the get go. Hp recalled them for about a year providing free upgrades to the 620.

Loose fuser tabs on the HP LaserJet 4000/4050/4100 - a potential 50.2 error If you experience a "50.2" fuser error while using a LaserJet 4000, 4050, or 4100 fuser, you should check to see if two tabs on the fuser have come loose. (They can get dislodged during shipping or during istallation.)
Turn your printer off and remove your fuser. Flip it to the gear side (the left side) and press inwards on the fuser tab to make sure it is fully clicked in place, as shown below.

Then flip the fuser over to the right side (the non-gear side) and press in on the other fuser tab to make sure it is also fully clicked in place.

I got this message with my machine so what we did is to check the fuser rollers, film and heating element. But everything turns out to be good. Before we dismantle the fuser assy we notice the right fuser latch clip is broken. So it justify the analysis of my tech that its the latch that give that error. thumbs up for brian c

If it jams every time, remove the duplexer and look for a piece of paper on the metal plate as the paper feeds out of the duplexer and back into the machine. Also use a file folder to push any jammed paper out from inside the duplex module.

Try using 28 pound paper. Thats seems to help prevent fuser jams.

This should be set automatically by default. If you are getting no print from tray 2, you may just have worn out pick up rollers. You can go into the menu and scroll to paper handling and you can make adjustments from there

If the paper does not lift, remove tray 2 and look inside to your right and you will see the paper lifter. Make sure the spring has not fallen off the lifter. You may need to replace the lifter. Also try lifting the paper deck by hand to make sure there is no obstructions in the tray itself.

This appears to be a driver issue to me. Not communicating. As long as you can print out a test page from the printer, then the issue is communication. Try uninstalling and reinstalling and or change to a different print port. If networked, try pinging the printer.

Most likley the formatter had failed. With power off, remove the formatter, then power on and perform and engine test. Look for small hole on the right side of the printer and use a small stick or straightened paper clip to push the button that is in there.. The engine test will produce a page with lines on it and if the engine test prints then the problem is the formatter.

First you need to verify that tray 2 will print from diagnostics test. Use the arrow keys to scroll down to diagnostics and press arrow key, then use arrows move to paper path test and press arrow again. The default paper path test is tray 2 single copy so just select print paper path test and see what happens. If printer prints from tray 2 then we know tray 2 works and that means you either have a print driver that is forcing printing from tray 1 or your settings on the printer for tray 2 are not correct for what you are printing. Check to make sure the paper size shows correctly and make sure that the switch on the right side of the paper tray towards the back is set for standard and not custom.

If you want to do a cold reset (clears all settings). Turn the printer off. Hold down the checkmark button and power unit on and wait until all lights on front come on and stay on then release. Use the up arrow button to move through the menu until display reads "cold reset". Press green button once more and printer will restart with cleared settings. If holding the green button while turning on does not work, try waiting until the memory count starts and then press and hold the green button until the three leds on the front are on.
