I cleaned all electrical connections with electrical motor cleaning spray and that did the trick.
I posted a complaint on December 31st about the error "DL". After leaving the wash machine sit for awhile out of frustration my husband & I went to look at it one more time. He went to hit normal as the wash cycle & we got the same error message so he proceded to cancel the error & he hit the heavy duty button & then start & then it was fine & it started to wash. It was a simple solution that seemed to have worked but it would have been nice to have some troubleshooting help from the company that sold me the appliance but seeing that I was out of warranty by 2 days they would not help me. Try this & see if this helps.
I had a dl-F error message. It would click 4 or 5 times and stop. I took the top cover off and checked all the connections to the door lock and the main panel. The screws for the door latch had loosend too. It is working now.
My husband and I visited this same website, and we found out that "dL/F" means "door lock failure." We followed the advice of one of the customers. We took the top panel off our washing machine (Kenmore Elite H3), and we made sure all of the wiring was securely connected. (Make sure you unplug your machine first!) It worked! We think the wires may have jiggled loose over time. Hope this helps!
My kenmore elite he4t did the same thing last month. I unplugged it for about 5 minutes and it re set itself and worked great until today...any suggestions???
Dl meand door lock. A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock it 6 times before displaying the error. Potential Causes ? Door Lock Mechanism broken or removed from the Door ? Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly ? Check the wire harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU) ? Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure Replace failed component.

I have the same problem. At first, hitting it on the side where the locking mechanism (like how we fixed old tv's) worked for a little while. But that seems to have stopped working. Unplugging it for a while worked some of the time as well. I took it upon myself to order and replace the door lock and it did not fix the problem. After about three months of not having a washer, I called the repairman. And wouldn't know it, it started working when he pressed the button to start it. I don't know if there really is a solution for this problem and I believe it is happening a lot more than the company is letting the public no because they have a defective product.
I have the same issue w/the dl & then the f being displayed. I want to let everyone know that I bought this at Sears & they are the worst company to deal with. They do not care about their customers. I will give you my latest scenario. Just coming back from a trip & have tons of laundry to do. I call for help & they will not talk to me since my warranty was up 2 days ago. They will send a tech to me in 4 days & in then meantime since I can't get the door open the clothes I have in there will probably mold and be ruined. I spoke with 3 different people & no one cared. Now is this a way to treat your customers? I was so upset I was bawling. I had the supervisor connect me to customer service so I could have my whole account canceled, low & behold they still didn't care.This is the 2nd wash machine & dryer I have purchased through Sears & none of them have lasted a year. This wash machine unfortunately had to do this 2 days out of the warranty. If anyone out there is thinking of purchasing anything from Sears I would think twice about it. They DON"T care. I would take any suggestions from anyone to get the door open to get the clothes I have in there out so they are not ruined.
My Kenmore HE3t front loading washing machine has a door lock problem. It has been acting up for the last couple of months. I get error messages like "F" and "Sud". Had a plumber come out and snake the pipes in utility room, he found some lint in pipes. This machine will miraculously work for a load or two then error messages appear and it stops completely! I've unplugged for 10 mins. to 4 days, and sometimes it will turn on and sometimes not! I had a Sears repairman scheduled to come out to fix it but I was called that day and was told "he didn't show up for work today" we will need to reshedule for 2 weeks from now!!! OMG..that load of clothes will have to be thrown in the trash. It has been sitting in water for 5 days now! I am VERY frustrated at the way Sears handled this situation. I was passed from one cust. serv. rep to another and finally put on hold so long I just hung up. This machine worked fine until this all started a couple of months ago. HELP!
How do you remove the top panel/cover?
You go to turn it on & water starts coming then turns off and the door lock error comes on.
