My dc27 has lost suction in the upright position when using the tools. Also a change in the way it sounds when switched on. Noise is coming from the air escaping at bottom where it clips back together after it has been emptied. Seems really noisy now. Never sounded like that before. Did notice a slight burning smell a couple of times before this happened

SOURCE: Dyson Dc-17 Animal Doesn't ****

I had the same problem and today I finally called Dyson. They were very helpful. I disconnected the hose from the handle using the red release button. If you hold the handle up to the light and can't see light on the other side, there is a blockage. A wire coat hanger worked great to dislodge our blockage and it's working perfectly again!

SOURCE: Dc 14 no suction/noise

Hi,

The sound you can hear is the clutch slipping the machine is designed to do this if the brush roller is jammed or foriegn object obstructing brush roller.

Remove the sole plate by turning the 3 plastic screws to unlock pull off sole plate now look for anything that is stopping brush from easily turning. If nothing obviouse but roller hard to turn by hand remove the brush roller & check the bearings at either end of the roller if they are siezed up A new roller will sort this out.

If brush roller is turning freely then your problem will be warn out clutch this will need replacing.

Its A lot to explain so try this site it has clutch removing manual for Dc14. http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/

SOURCE: Dyson won't go back into upright position to engage suction

The dyson.com website had a solution for this particular problem. Just press in a button in the area around the right wheel while lifting the rear of the vacuum up. This allows the base to roll forward enough to go back into the upright position. I did this and it worked. All fixed.

SOURCE: Slight burning smell when dc07 is in use

Sounds like your belt can either be rubbing against something or its stretched out. Either way you should check into getting the belt changed.

We are not getting any suction from the floor, but there is still suction in the removable extention.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC27. If you have suction from the wand, but not from the cleaner it, you may have a blockage somewhere. These are easy to locate and remove - please follow the steps shown in our online guide:

It's also a good idea to wash your filter - please take a look at our video guide for the correct way to do this:

I have a Dyson DC27. I cannot tilt the foot bit of it!. I have suction on the wand. I cannot see any blockage - any ideas?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC27. The cleaner should recline easily into the vacuuming position when one foot is placed on the cleaner head, and the handle is lowered. If it's not doing this, it might be worth using a little more force than usual, in case the upright lock mechanism has jammed. If this doesn't help, or if you're reluctant to try this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack
