The power control button will not work on my Fellowes SB-99ci shredder. The red basket indicator lights when I take out the drawer, so I know it is getting power. The last two times I used the power control button it felt a little "sticky" then the third time it would not work at all. I love this shredder.

You have to change the button on/off, this is the solution.

SOURCE: Fellowes PS60C-2 shredder doesn't shred

there are two switches under the cutter area. 1 for sensing when your basket is full, (sometimes these bin-full flaps get stuck in the up position, energizing the switch) and the other is a switch that detects if your basket is installed. fellowes has modified these shredders so many times, that there are alot of different configurations. look for something that resembles a flap under the head and make sure its in the down position. as for the basket sensor, some baskets had 2 projections on the left and right top of basket. one may be broke. if so, you can "cheat" the switch with a screwdriver to see if thats the problem.

SOURCE: how to change gear kit

You can get a manual for this device here not sure what information the manual will provide for you would not hurt to check it out, also a good observation of what is needed to remove and replace this item is also something to write down where things go. The kit should have had instruction manual of how to install the kit. Check out the site above. Thanks for using FixYa! John

CAN THE BLADES ON A FELLOWES 99Ci SHREDDER BE SHARPENED?

I do not believe so. Never heard of sharpening one. The shredding blade is pretty complicated. The manufacturer has a good support web page I suggest contacting them. Keep it clean and oiled and it should last a long time. And do not shred stuff listed on the cannot shred list.

Fellowes 58-99C - unit is on, power is on, the on/off button will not turn on.

This unit has a bin power actuator switch, if the bin is not in correctly or the post that turns on the switch is broken the unit will not turn on.

Shrededer motor remains on after shredding is complete

Blow out the sensors with some compressed air.(Computer Duster) they are likely covered in paper dust and the machine believes paper is present.
Please be sure to unplug the machine before attempting any sort of repairs
Hope this is of some help
