Connecting windstream dsl modem to xbox

Depending upon your Internet setup connecting your XBox cannot give you Internet access to XBox Live.
For a least complicated method, you need to connect the XBox to a DSL or cable modem that has Internet connection via your Internet Service Provider.

Erm, sir on your computer you need to find what IP Address it has and then put that same thing on your Xbox 360.

1. Step 1 Have your Xbox 360 correctly hooked up to television with HDMI or component cables. Turn your television and Xbox on. Make sure your television is on the correct input. Make sure that your WIndstream DSL Modem is on. If you have a router, make sure that it is on.
   
2. Step 2 Obtain the security key for your wireless network, and write this key down. You will need this key to allow the Xbox 360 to have wireless access to the Internet. If you do not know where to find your wireless network key, you will have to access the security setup of your router. The way to do this varies by model, so check your user's manual to see how. If you don't plan on using the Xbox Wireless Adapter for your Xbox, you may skip this step.
   
3. Step 3 Run a network cable (Ethernet) from your router or directly from the modem to the Xbox 360. Once you have this cable plugged in you will have to access the "My Xbox" tab on your dashboard. Go to the "System Settings" portion of the tab, usually the last portion on the right, and access network settings. For wired setups, go to the "Configure Network" option and make sure both the "IP Settings" and "DNS Settings" are set to automatic.
   For wireless setups, you will need to have the Xbox Wireless Adapter plugged into the Xbox. Under the Network Settings, enter the security key that you obtained earlier to allow access to the Internet and Xbox Live.
   
4. Step 4 Create an account on Xbox Live. You will need to either have a credit card or an Xbox Live subscription card. You can purchase Xbox Live cards at your local game retailer. You will be asked to enter information and create a user name called a "Gamer Tag." This is the name that you will be known as in the x-box community hope this help you out

It might be due to bad data cable connecting both XBOX and Modem try to Change it

A cable modem & a router are two different things. You can pick up a "Cisco 'EtherFast' cable/DSL" (wired or wireless) router at Wal Mart for $35. But you need both a modem & router to get your PS3 up & running on the web. Once you get on, you'll need to set up a "PlayStation" account. Unlike the Xbox 360 Live network, PlayStation is free of charge. It's a very user-friendly interface, so you shouldn't have any problems there. does this help it sounds like you are puting your cable in to the 360 and the modem you wont have a internet ligth on untill you try to connect the 360 to go live you must reset the modem

mtu is not working cant hook up xbox live

Access the routers setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 (ip address of the router) on the address bar on IE.

then on basic setup page at the bottom part of the page you will see MTU normally its on auto,
to change the value set it to manual. ask your isp what is their prefferred value for the mtu you can go as high as 1300 to 1500.

In order for you to be able to log into Xbox Live, you will need to have DSL or Broad Band internet connect in your home. Once you have that, you will be able to connect the Xbox 360 directly to the Modem that the internet provider gives you. If you wish to able to connect both the Xbox and your notebook to the modem you will then need a router or a wireless router. So, if you do not have DSL or Broad Band Internet service in your home, you will not be able to log into Xbox Live.
