I have a Kenmore 596.73502200 bottom freezer that suddenly stopped freezing. The food in the upper compartment is cold, but the food in the freezer never freezes, ice cream is soft, etc. I can hear the condensor come on, and I can feel air circulating in the compartment. I removed the back cover and noticed it was really hot, I also noticed the condenser fan not turning. Could this be the problem?

Yes that is a proplem...when ever that compressor is running that fan motor should be running too.. also you evapurator fan motor should be running also
The problem is in the defrost system.. You have a defrost heater in your freezer that comes on 3 times a day & melts the frost to keep your freezer frost free. That frost turns to water & runs down a drain & eventually goes to a drain pan located under the unit. On these models the hole for the drain is located directly under the evaparator fan. The drain hole is to far from the heater so the water settles & then freezes around the fan blades causing it to stop spinning. Its that fans job to circulate cold air from the freezer to the fridge, so now all the cold air is staying in your freezer. Last I knew they were workin on a solution to this but you need to contact the manufacturer. A temporary fix would be to unplug & then defrost the freezer by taking out the freezer panel & melting all the ice. Boiling water is effective. When you get the ice gone from around the fan you should be able to see the drain hole & be sure water runs freely down the hole. Put it back together then adjust the front legs of the fridge so the whole unit slopes back slightly causing the water to run back to that drain hole without settling.

I unplugged the frig because the compressor was very HOT!.Question? Could the compressor have a Locked-Rotor? If so what can I do to loosen it.
Hi,
There can be many reasons why your refrigerator is freezingyour food. To see what could be happening and to figure out how to possibly fixyour problem. Take a look at this tip which contains many of the causes andsolutions to fix the problems.
As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
Bad cold control switch. The cold control switch should open when the set temperature
has been reached. If the control does not open and turn the compressor
off, it will continue to run and freeze items in the refrigerator section. If the control is not closing, the compressor and all fans will stop operating. Check the control for continuity. If you don't feel comfortable checking this yourself, get a repair person out to check it out. Hope this helps.
That is a broken thermostat control part number 67003000 when they stop they can break while on or off. Sea Breeze PART NUMBER AND MODEL SEARCH FEATURE
You're frozen up. Defrost completely. Then, clean your condenser. Make sure to never leave open containers in the fridge...water condenses into ice. If you still have problems, you may be low on gas.
when I put on fast freeze the motor sounds like its on
