SOURCE: Last night my wife left the freezer door open.

The fan motor is probably laden with frost and ice. If you can remove the food and then get a hair dryer you can warm up the area in the rear of the freezer. This should remove the ice and frost, let it rest for a whilke and then plug it back in.

SOURCE: Humming sound? motor or fan constantly running

Hi, It is the evaporator fan motor you are hearing. The motor is the only thing that shuts off when the door is open. The fan motor is located behond the rear panel inside the freezer sections.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: refrigerator not cooling

Look into the back of the freezer and if there is a layer of frost building on the rear panel it's possible that your refrigerator is not defrosting. If yes unplug and remove the frozen goods to the fresh food section. Remove the rear panel and defrost with a hair dryer or by setting a large bucket of hot water in freezer and close the door until the ice is melted. There are a few reasons for this happening and they are defrost heater, defrost thermostat, control board and other things that could cause this because of the way the refrigerator is designed. But the most likely reason is the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Try defrosting and then letting me know what you find. If you need one one one free assistance I am here for you! Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: My whirlpool Refrigerator motor keeps running

Keep an eye on the running time and temparture of the refrigerator. It will need time to return to normal cooling temps since the defrost and hot temps inside will take maybe a few more hours to reach normal. If not, get back with me and I will go through a step by step process on eliminations,  If so I will need age of fridge, Make and Models Numbers, Thanks Sea Breeze

Side by side fridgidare wont stop beeping and showing H1, freezer door was cracked all night and our ac was out, tried to unplug and reset still nothing???

Hey Nikkie, I appreciate your post!
I see that your Frigidaire refrigerator is beeping and displaying the error code of "H1". An "H1" error code means that this is a high temperature within the refrigerator. Since the door was left open all night the refrigerator is registering there is a high temperature. I would suggest keeping the door closed and allowing the refrigerator to get back to the correct temperature. This may take anywhere from 24 to 36 hours for the temperature to stabilize. Hopefully this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Last night, the freezer door on my older GE Profile fridge got left slightly open. This morning, it was making a loud noise and some of the food inside was starting to thaw. I turned it off for awhile...

The door being left open would have caused frost to form around the evaporator fan motor and that would be the source of your noise.

If the lights are still working then it is probable in defrost, wait about 30-45 min and see if it turns back on. If not then you might have a different problem.

What is the model number for your fridge? The model number is normally in the fridge on the right hand side.

Not starting after being left open all night.

You may have burned out the compressor motor as it was forced to run all night trying to cool the unit with the door open. The compressor motors in home refrigerators are not designed for running continuously. Call 1-800-KENMORE for help.

Refrigerator motor is very loud with doors closed. when you open a door the noise stops.

The defrost fan is hitting on frost buildup or has fallen out of lace It is designed to stop running when doors are opened so as to not circulate warm air in the cavitys.

Fridge motor is loud when doors closed stops when open-3.5 yrs old- first time same problem fixed with replacing sensor 2/08 now sensor broken again???

the fan goes off when door opened and when closes it will turn back on is normal operation of fan and door control --as to noise --fan may be failing ---iced over ----if seal failing will cause unit to run more and allows more moisture into evap which can cause more ice over

Maytag Refrigerator is 69 degrees

You must check the evaporator fan motor in the freezer.
Is it running?
You may need to push the door switch with the freezer door open for fan to run with drawer open.
Next check the damper in the fresh food section.
Is it open?
Air circulating through?
If not, replace your damper control and thermistor.

GE SidexSide PSS26SGPASS Makes Humming Noise

GE refrigs have a variable speed evaporator fan motor that is controlled by a computer board on the back of the refrig. now the noise you are hearing is most likely the fan motor ramping up and down in speed (some of my customers say it sounds like a ghost). if its a continuous ramping up and down then the speed cotroller on the board is bad and must be replaced. if its just an occasional sound then thats normal and nothing to worry over.

Btw the reason the noise stops when the door opens is because the fan shuts off when you open the door.
