Not reading the dvd game

probably the top cover and the ps2 cover are touching and is preventing the small motor to run..

This means that the system is encountering a serious error. The laser that reads PS2 and DVD media formats is different to that of the blu-ray laser. If the system was unable to detect the blu-ray media it means that it was faulty and you have to contact Sony supporting your location to have it fixed.

Your PS2 laser is wearing out. When the laser starts to go, first games will skip... then eventually the PS2 will stop reading DVDs altogether. If you keep using it to read CDs, it will eventually stop reading those too and the laser will die altogether. Here's a website that will help you identify your PS2 model, show you how to replace the laser, and they sell parts and do repairs too

if it's a fat PS2 and
model SCPH 30001, SCPH 35001
(not including the models with an 'R' after the model #.

these models need the following to play DVDs:
- PS2 DVD remote with IR unit
- PS2 DVD disc player (sold with DVD remote w/ IR unit)
- PS2 memory card

you copied the DVD disc to the memory card. you used the memory card to play DVDs.

later models didn't need the memory card to play DVDs.

clean the eye on the playstation

For Games... PS3 is region free, for DVDs Movies or other, region code is 5 for INDIA, also to make region free, get the region code converted to 0.

The 'Eye' that the PS uses to read DVDs/CDs are different, the one that reads cds has gone bad on yours it seems, so you should still be able to play the games that have the dvd logo, if it is still under warranty I reccommend calling sony.

Games consoles have 2 individual lasers, or 1 laser that adjusts it,s power higher/lower for different types of media.
The PS2 laser, can be very slightly out of alignment also, which will cause it, to read some disks, and not others.
Try a different game, or music cd.
