Deskjet printer cartridge problem - won't print

My printer has a red flashing light indicating that there is a problem with the cartridge. I've changed the colour one but don't have a new black cartridge, I've checked to make sure the cartridges are installed correctly and turned the computer and printer off and on again. In fact I've done everything that the manual says I should try but the red light is still flashing and the printer still won't print. usually my printer will still contue to print even if the ink is low. Please help.

  1. If the cover on the product is open, close it.
  2. Press the Resume button (c01219285.bmp ) to continue printing.

Can I print if I do not have a color cartridge? I have a new black cartridge and recycled the empty color cartridge without replacing it. Now I get a flashing red light indicating I need ink and nothing...

Yes, go to print properties and find the print in gray scale and it will print in black only. WHen you open the print window. Click on preferences and then look for the color tab. Click on the "print in grayscale" box.

The light on the right is flashing red.

- If the power light is flashing it means that your printer may be receiving data.
- If the resume light is flashing you may be out of paper, or you may have a paper jam, you may be printing a two sided document by hand and the first side has finished printing.
- If the print cartridge status light is flashing that means the top cover may be open, of there may be a problem with one of the cartridges.
- If all of the lights are flashing the printer may need to be reset.

Hope this helps.

Out of paper light flashes even after paper is loaded

Flashing resume light also can mean:

1. cartridge is missing or an incorrect print cartridge is installed
2. cartridge is out of ink
3. dirty cartridge contacts
4. paper jammed

Check are cartridges firmly snapped into place and not empty. Use water to wash copper on cartridges if contacts are dirty.

Urgent printing!

Replace color cartridge so the printer doesn't consider it an error. You can print grayscale only in your print settings.
