HP 970 cse printer Orange light flashing, but no papter jam. Green power light is lit. cannot print ? :(

There may be a small piece of torn paper in the path obstructing a sensor. Have a good look to see if you can find it.

HP DeskJet 970Cse cartridges won't move

okay be gentle, but try to move the cartridge box manually from side to side. it's possible that the gears have gotten stripped which is why they won't move even though they are trying to. so i'd try and move them from side to side and see if you can physically move it yourself. like i said be gentle in the chance the gear isn't stripped. good luck! My printer won't shut off or print, lights

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels. Activate head cleaning before a test is taken. Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts.

Printer tries three times to

Welcome to FixYa.

Have you tried to do a hard reset first? Here's how.
  • While the computer and printer is ON, unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
  • Unplug the USB cable of the printer.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug back the USB cable and the Power cord.
  • Turn ON the printer is it is OFF.

If this does not resolve the issue then there might be something blocking the cartridge pathway or the "belt" needs to be replaced (This is common to deskjets).
  • To open the printer, remove the screws underneath the printer. There are about 4 to 6 star crews)
  • The top cover can now be removed.
  • Check for any objects or torn paper that is blocking the pathway.
  • Put some grease on the rod where the cartridge glides/sits.

If this does not resolve the issue. Replace the "Belt". Part number C6426-40115. Refer to the picture below #4.
jas247_89.png

If it still does not resolve the issue, the transparent guide (#3 in the picture) is damaged.
The transparent guide which has a mechanism embedded in it has no replacement. This is a common issue for deskjets. You might consider a repair from the manufacturer if it is still in warranty or buying a new printer.

I hope I have provided you with useful information that will save you time and money in searching for a fix.

Keep me posted.

970 Cse cartridges bang over to the left and then nothing

I had the same problem with my HP Deskjet 970Cse which was quickly resolved by going to the below HP site and looking under the Issue: The carriage is stuck or makes a grinding noise. Note that the blinking lights displayed as: Resume Light Blinking Simultaneously AND Power Light Blinking Simultaneously.

The Solution:
1. Lift the top cover to the printer.
2. Turn the printer off and then on again.
3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts.
4. Move the carriage towards the middle of the printer.
5. Take out the cartridges and close the top cover.
6. Plug the power cord to the back of the printer. Turn the printer on.
7. Open the top cover, reinstall the cartridges, and then close the top cover.

Hope this helps as it worked for me.

Printer keeps printing same file

My friend, the computer and printer do what you tell them to.

Jobs are sent from the computer to the print Que and are printed according to the instructions you have provided. This is a very long shot. I suggest you open the print Que and see if there are any jobs pending. Sometimes jobs get stuck and are waiting for manual instruction from you. If jobs are stuck there - cancel or delete them. In a few very unusual cases, they will not cancel nor delete. What I do in this case is I remove the printer from the system, reboot my computer and reinstall the printer. I don't think this is necessary in your case, however.

Find the printer icon on the bar at the bottom of your window ... to the right side. Click on it and the que will open up. If it is not there, there are no jobs pending - so - send a job to the printer which will cause the icon to appear.

I think your trouble is you are not sending the job that you think you are. Assure the file you want is open then print it from within that application for best results.

Pages do not kick out after printing on my HP DeskJet 970

It looks like a driver or software problem. I would check whether there is a newer driver (last time I looked the newest was 2002!!!) and whether a new installation helps (watch out sometime one must install before the printer is hooked to the PC and sometimes it is the reverse check the manual).
I would also check whether it occurs with all software...
A couple of info would be helpful: which OS are you using? is the printer running over USB or parallel. Is the printer attached to a printer server?
