The click sounds similar to a solenoid click in a car.

There is a noise in the left mkotor when I use the joystick, either forward or backward. It's similar to a click of the solenoid in a car.

Can anyone tell what it might be? Everything moves smoothly, no dragging or pulling.

My old starter on a 1999 ford ranger would spin but not engage the engine to start it. Bought a new starter an it does the same thing. What should i check next?

Starter soups but doesn't engage. Clicking sound: you hear it spinning with a click sound before it starts spinning. No grinding sound. The mechanism to engage the fly wheel could be faulty, probably it is seized, or battery doesn't have enough power to make the solenoid fully pull mechanism (check battery amps charge if low. You may need to look at the starter as someone turns the motor over and make sure it's engaging all the way to fly wheel.
Sometimes you may need to Shem or file down where the two bolts go into the starter too get it far enough into the starter casing to get it to engage.

2000 Chrysler 300m 3.5/ turn key I hear the solenoid spinning but not the starter motor, everything else works had starter motor checked it's good, also there are no codes form obd 2 scanner what's going...

A solenoid only makes a clicking or clunking sound. They do not spin.
You must be hearing the starter spinning but the starter gear has not engaged with the flywheel. That's the solenoid's job. It must be stuck on not working. Have the solenoid and the starter gear movement .
Hope this helps.

When i try to lift or angle my plow all i get is a clicking sound when i push the lift button and when i let up on the button the moter on the hydrolic unit will click but will not move the plow. minute...

Not familiar with model, but valves click at the same time motor is suppose to run. Check power and ground to motor (or try running it with jumper cables, but don't be where plow can angle and squish you. If good power but won't spin, clean brushes/commutator/check bearings in motor.

2004 Nissan Altima won't start hear clicking sound with a jump start it's start to run again. few day after same problem when turn off the key stuck?

Hi, I would surmise by your description that you have an intermittent fault with the solenoid on the starter motor. The clicking sound is the solenoid trying to engage when power is applied to it.

The cheapest solution is usually to fit a re-built str mtr, or if you have the services, have your own unit rebuilt.

Please don't just replace the solenoid, it's a false economy, no matter how well intentioned!

Let me know the outcome.

Good luck.

Car clicks but wont start...power is good with interior/dash lights.....

this is caused by a defective starter solenoid, the heavy contact that engage the starter get burned the solenoid engages (the click u hear) but the starter gets no power due to the contacts being burned away

Sometimes, out of the blue, when i snap on my M91 and touch the joystick, i will here a faint click and the power display will start blinking. the machine will NOT move. any ideas?

With the M91 the click you are hearing is the electric brake solenoid engaging and disengaging the electro mechanical brake. The display blinking probably indicates a brake solenoid fault code and right or left motor. Try working both brake levers back and forth listening for and feeling for smooth action. If the levers are bent and the brakes are not working a motor replacement is necessary. If you can identify the fault flash code you can determine which brake or motor is the culprit and use a DVM to verify the component failure.

It does the same thing, it clicks and eventually starts. It is the worst when it is cold. If I click it alot rapidlly it normally starts. Do you think it is the starter or a loose wire.

Sounds like the starter itself. A" dead spot" in the windings so that it has to get past that to finally make enough power to turn the motor over. Also make sure the battery terminals and posts are clean and tight in

20002 Ford Explorer - car will not start/turn over. just get clicking sound. battery good.

Typically, when you hear a clicking sound, it indicates that the starter solenoid is bad.

A starter solenoid (or starter relay) is the part of an automobile which relays a large electric current to the starter motor, which in turn sets the engine in motion. In many vehicles the solenoid also engages the starter pinion with the ring gear of the engine.

My 1996 full size chevrolet tahoe will not go into 4wd.It is the electronic version with the switch on the dash for 2hi, 4lo and 4 hi.Did not use 4wd for a year and went to use it and you can hear transfer...

check the solenoid on the front differential. i had a similar problem. when i would start to engage 4wd low/high and it would blow the fuse. i replaced the front solenoid and fixed my problem.

the solenoid can be found in the right side of the front differential. costs about $100 at local part store and takes 5-10 to changeout with an adjustable wrench.

Freelander unable to start at turn of key,

Does the starting solenoid engages? This is would sound like a deep clunk on your starter. When the solenoid engages it close the contact that energize the starter motor, but a worn contact on the solenoid would result in it engaging but not having enough current to turn the engine resulting in a clunking noise when you try to start.
The starter solenoid gets its 12 volt from a relay. This is referred to as the starter relay. If you try to crank, and you hear only a click but the starter do not turn, then the contacts on the relay maybe worn.
To sum it up, if you hear a loud clunk when it dont crank, its the starter solenoid. If you hear just a click but no crank, it could be the starter relay.
