Keyboard and mouse not working and monitor going to sleep

My computer has been freezing off & on for several months; last 2-3 weeks monitor will go black when printing or doing other action. Now monitor keeps going to sleep and keyboard and mouse are not working. I can get my desktop to come up when I first turn computer on but can't do anything due to no keyboard/mouse. Then monitor goes black after 5-10 minutes. Says DVI & VGA no signal.

HP Pavilion Slimline S3400f Desktop.
dont worry ALL PC end up like this,, all do.. sooner or later..
NO OS stated, XP"? never post without OS stated, or answer get 10x more harder, See? make it easy for the helper and get more help.....
no Monitor stated. (maker, CRT, LCD what?)
The monitor is not fibbing to you BTW, the PC did go dead or to sleep. seems its monitor monitor of some kind with DVI.

if the monitor works on other PCs then the monitor is not bad.
i Bet it works (old ones 2002, have a hidden deep internal sleep mode. and is not yours IM sure now) DVI IS THE ONLY CLUE THERE.
So PC is dead. this PC came with only VISTA new,
is it still VISTA?????????
HP has support on it still
here (carbon dated by me 2008, IIRC)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-slimline-s3400-desktop-pc-series/3688715/model/3688723

this year,? get all those files and books there backed up
when HP support ends after 10 year rule, (be savvy?)

what keyboard USB or wireless keyboard mouse
use wired USB keyboards if wireless the battery is dead. easy no?

now in VISTA, go to Control panel, click power
turn off all sleep modes and all hibernate modes
the turn off screen savers, if turned on , disktop . RC right click
in display settings or personalize, turn off , need login to come out of sleep or screen saver.
try a real keyboard, that has USB cable yet? be first thing to do.
always keep a real keyboard, handy,,,
batteries fail. in all wireless devices like this (inside them)

luck you desktops have lies DIM fails. there are many.

http://www.pcdied.com/sleep-or-dim.html

one other way , and common is PC overheated.
all do that.
ever one not cleaned out every year,.

#1 all time cause of overheat and PC shuts down.

SOURCE: how do I fix the error no vga input signal no dvi input signal monitor going to sleep

Check if you VGA is properly settled in the PCI slot. Try to take it out, clean the slot for dust.
If that doesn't help, it is well possible that you VGA is not working any more.

SOURCE: HP w2207 no vga input signal, no dvi input signal monitor goes to sleep

There is no signal coming from your PC.
excuse some of the solutions as sounding dumb, but we have to explore all possibilities.

Check the power cable going into the computer
Check the power input disconnect switch on the back of the power supply and make sure it is on
If the pc is plugged into a power bar, make sure it is turned on and the breaker isn't tripped
press power on the PC and make sure the lights are coming on.

now for the solutions that may actually help.

disconnect the power from the PC
if the video is on a card, remove and re-seat the video card
hook the power back up, connect the monitor and try again.

the CMOS on the computer may need to be reset.
I hate totally clearing the CMOS, so what I usually do is remove 1 stick of ram and power up. If the system is alive again, power down, put the RAM back in and power back up.
If that doesn't work, turn the system off, put the CMOS jumper to the CLEAR position for 15 seconds, put it back to the Normal position and then power back up.

Basically, if the monitor works on your friends system but not on yours, the the problem is your system, not the monitor (assuming it isn't working fine til it gets into windows...if that's the problem, you have a driver or configuration problem)

Freeze up of Keyboard & Mouse?

Your issue is not uncommon. The drivers for the equipment have failed. There is no nice way to put it that would make you happy, but the items need to be replaced. They have come to the end of their life span and can no longer be used. Sorry for the bad news.

My HP W1907 monitor works fine until I try to play The Sims 3 game. I play for several minutes or hours and the monitor shows the message that it is going to sleep and the light on the monitor goes...

Hi there. I had the same problem months ago when I try to play high end games like Sims 3 my monitor goes into power saving mode. I tried to check every possible causes of the problem. It could be that your computer is overheating try to clean your computer and check if your fans still works. Second it could me your power supply malfunctioning, maybe it does not meet the required power to make your game work. Last cause is your video card malfunctioning, what I did is to just buy a new video card and it works.
If you do not have spare power supply or video card you can go to a computer repair shop for them to check the possible problem that causes it to go into power saving mode. It can also save you money before you can buy a new one.
Hope this helps, Have a good day!

How do I wake up the monitor when it goes to sleep when not used for a short time.

slapping it around usually works. "just a joke!"

tapping a few keys on your keyboard and moving the mouse will usually wake the monitor from sleep mode.

After i've turned on my computer, and used it for about 5 to 10 minutes, the computer freezes and i have to turn the computer off. when my computer freezes my mouse usually does not freeze. sometimes i'll...

You can start by uninstalling the program you installed before this started happening. You can also do system restore which you'll find in start>accessories>system tools.
If nogo, try disconnecting devices on the back of the computer except the keyboard, mouse, monitor and power. Turn the computer on without them. If the issue disappeared, reconnect what you unplugged one at a time until you find the culprit.

Sounds like there may be more than one problem, so first let's make sure you shut the computer down completely:

1) Press and HOLD the power button on the computer tower until it goes completely dark. A single press often puts the computer in sleep mode, so holding the key for approximately 5 seconds usually forces a power off. After doing that, If you're still not sure if it powered off, unplug the AC power cord from the back of the computer tower for a few seconds and plug it back in. Now, make sure all other cables (monitor, keyboard, mouse) or wireless USB adapters for keyboard and mouse are securely plugged in where they are supposed to be.
2) Press the power button on the computer tower briefly to turn it back on.
3) Everything may be working now, but if not:
a) Monitor still dark? Make sure the monitor is on and plugged in, also, there is often an input source button on the bezel of the monitor to toggle between input sources (such as VGA, DVI and even HDMI). Press and wait a few seconds for a picture, repeat slowly at least 3 times.
b) Keyboard or mouse still not working? If wireless, make sure they have fresh batteries and that the wireless USB adapter is plugged into a USB port firmly. If wired, make sure the cables are plugged in firmly into the correct places on the back of the computer.

If all that fails, your new computer may be faulty and need to be returned to where you purchased it.

Does the mouse & keyboard turn off or sleep?

check your windows settings. They are in your power settings. You can adjust your computer to whatever you want.
right click on destop and goto properties, then click on screen savers tab.. see the power settting button now?? You should be able to tell it what to do for everything to do with Power.
