Ok newer monitors come with a HDMI connector and would need a compatable HDMI video card that has the ability for sound. The older monitors have a 3mm plug like a head phone jack you can plug this directly into the GREEN portion of the sound card that is installed in your system!
1. check the power cords- make sure all are snug. 2. check and make sure no pins are bent in the cord to the computer 3. make sure that the monitor is not in auto-power save. Or in auto off mode. For example- is the light amber or green. 4. finally, make sure that your settings on your computer are not set to power off your monitor- as in a blank screen saver, power save or hibernate
