HP Compaq W17q Monitor Questions & Answers
OCD LOCKED pops up at random
There might be signal issues from the source device; with intermittent problems, I recommend cleaning all the pins on both ends of the connectors and then removing and re-inserting the plugs a couple of times in hopes that it is a connection problem on one of the cable ends.
Input not supported
The resolution your laptop is running in, or it's refresh rate is too high.Lower the resolution, or drop the refresh rate. It's native mode is 1440x900 at 60Hz
Monitor goes on and off.
Hi, I am Steve, lets get started solving your issue.
With a monitor there a a number of things that may be causing the problem.
Firstly - if you unplug the monitor cable from the computer and start the monitor does it work: (should turn on and give an error message (no video input found or something similar). In this case the monitor is good and something is wrong with the computer.
If the monitor does not work then the monitor is at fault and it is likely the inverter is tripping the power out. that means a component is shorting or it is burnt out. These can be replaced but you are getting close to the cost of a new monitor to replace them.
Please let me know if the monitor is the faulty item. If it is not we can move onto the computer to see what is at fault or I can give you more details about repairing a monitor.
No sound from speakers
Ok newer monitors come with a HDMI connector and would need a compatable HDMI video card that has the ability for sound. The older monitors have a 3mm plug like a head phone jack you can plug this directly into the GREEN portion of the sound card that is installed in your system!
