Sometimes my typewriter advances too much between letters.

When I type sometimes it skips too much. ie: instead of 'hello how are you' it could look like "hel lo ho w are yo u"

The escapement might need adjustment. Try striking the key briskly and not holding it down so it double types leaving a space.

Standard manual corona typewriter: spacebar not working

There is an escapement type mechanism in the back of the typewriter, chances are, the escapement mechanism is out of movement or misaligned. Check the spacebar if something is caught underneath or over one of the linkages.

My Brother ML100 is not printing what I type

Hammer sticking and typing incorrect letters (and or skipping letters): 1) make sure daisy wheel installed correctly. 2) hold down CODE key & Q (RESET) to reset wheel...if still not corrected 3) WD40 the hammer at the base & joints where moving parts are, keep typing until oil seeps in (this last one fixed it for me)

Typing light and inconsistant-top part of letter okay but bottom too light or not there: to left of hammer (at base) are 2 screws, I losened them and adjusted hammer to different forward and backward spots..finally found the ideal location where full letter printed and had the correct force it needed to print correctly.

When typing, the print head jumps up & down and skips spaces

Try it without the lift off tape they nsometimes jam the printwheel.
There may be a broken wire in the harness about 1" from the carrier.

Hello,

Hi

Many brother type writers have two cam assemblies under ribbon holder. One operates the print hammer and the other operates the correction ribbon lift. sometimes they gets stuck or lock themselves up. turning on and off a few times will take care of it, but sometimes it needs to be worked on by a tech. If you look when you type a character, most likely the print hammer is not firing or it is striking the correction ribbon instead of the black ribbon.

Let us know if you want to know something more else please accept the suggestion.

When typing wrong letters and numbers type

You might have a "proportional space" printwheel but the pitch selector is on 10, 12, or 15 instead of PS. OR it is on PS but you have a normal print wheel. Try selecting different pitches. Another thing that causes that problem is sometimes the ribbon or correction tape gets caught in the printwheel.

Print wheel is skipping and sometimes it leaves little marks instead of letters

REMOVE THE PRINTWHEEL, LOOK FOR BENT OR BROKEN SPOKES, ALSO BE SURE THAT THE CORRECTION TAPE IS THE DRY TYPE, THE STICK ONES WILL GIVE YOU FITS.
