HP Photosmart C7280 still prints in color

My printer will print in color eventhough "Black cartridge only" is selected! Also, on my computer it asks me to replace Cyan cartridge when it was not empty. How do I fix this?

Why don't you try changing the Setup for your printing to Black & White or Grayscale in your computer's software: File/Print/go to the printer's settings and disable anything color. As for the cartridge, it's probably the cartridge. If you have an extra, why not swap it out? I believe the brains in the cartridge contacts might not be working properly OR your heads need to be cleaned OR you better stick with HP original cartridge to make sure it's not the printer. I used to use "odd" ink and even refilled ones and shortly thereafter my old printers would die. Not taking a chance on this HP. I love how it prints when it isn't jamming the paper! Need help on that problem pronto.

Sadly not. The HP Photosmart C7280 insists on having a full set of cartridges installed in order to print. It does this because the printheads are actually part of the printer itself and can sustain damage if they pull air into the printhead.

The out of date message is also non-negotiable I am sad to say.

I HAVE A PRINT CARTRIDGE ALIGNMENT problem wiht my HP C7820

Try to find the alignment software in your HP printer's Control Center. If alignment does not work, you could un-install the HP printer software and drivers. Disconnect the printer from the computer. Restart without HP software, drivers, and printer. Shutdown. Now reconnect the printer and turn the computer back on. Re-load HP software and drivers. Follow there direction as you go. You'll be asked to align the printer.

My C7280 HP Photosmart printer isn't printing the right colors. Anything that is red comes out yellow. Don't know what to do?

It's possible that your print cartridge needs cleaning.
1. Turn on your computer, wait for it to boot up, then turn on your printer and load with paper.
2. Double click the "HP Imaging Director" icon on your desktop.
3. On the screen that appears, click the "Settings" subheading, scroll down to "Print Settings and
over to "Printer Toolbox" and click on it.
4. After clicking on "Printer Toolbox", click on "Clean the Print Cartridges" button and wait for
the printer to complete it's operation, afterwards, print a test page to check the results.
If this operation does not solve your problem, I suggest changing the print cartridge and see
if this helps.

I have a hp c7280 all in one printer. I only print black and white but it always wants me to change the color cartridges is there anyway to change this?

HP Photosmart C7280 color ink running out despite not using it?

Unplug power cable while the printer is ON.
Press and hold the '#' and '3' buttons, and plug the cable back into the printer.
Continue holding the buttons down for 20 seconds, and then release it.

if doesn't initialize successfully repeat
on step 2 press and hold the '#' and '6' button and plug in the power cable.

Why does color ink in Photosmart C7280 go down when you are only printing using black ink

Unless you set the printer settings to black and white it mixes colored ink to create black. It does this by default. Go to start printers and faxes. Right click on printer icon.Click printing preferences to change this.If youre using hp tool box setting is grayscale black only.

How can I print Black only?

Hi

HP Inkjet printers work only if both the cartridges have ink unlike HP Laserjet printers.
If you want the printer to print only in black, Follow the steps

Start --->Control panel -- >Printers and faxes ---->Right click on the printer icon (HP c5100) select printing preferences.
Under printing prefences there u will see an option to print with black or print in gray scale.

Note:HP Inkjet printers like Photosmart C5180 will work only both the cartridges have ink.

sure..but it will be a tad off..black is all colors of course..you could do a print settings where it's only black you know
