Try this....after a lot of frustration and research, what i found on the internet
for this problem was usless. I tried holding down the eject button for
15 seconds to reset the disc drive, still it would'nt accept the disc.
As i literally picked up the phone to ring sony, as the ps3 was on
standby i pressed the eject button multiple times and heard 2 beeps
each time, still the system stayed on standby. After that i then tried
just putting the disc in as normal as its on standby and the system
booted automatically and accepted my disc. I hope this helps others, as
mine now works perfectly.
Disc drive may be defect.
Recommend sending it to Sony, try taking out the power cord for 1 minute and plugging it back in
If it doesn't work then send it back to Sony

The Wii console will not accept game discs or the discs are ejecting immediately
What To Do:
Press the eject button on the front of the console. The console will not accept any discs if there is already a disc inserted, and it is common to forget that a disc was already inserted. If the system still won't accept discs, or if the discs are immediately ejected, this indicates a problem with the mechanism that pulls the discs into the system and the Wii will need to be repaired. To begin the repair process, click here.
Turn the system off first, unplug the cord. Wait about 5 minutes. Then try. if it happens again take pen and stick in the disc drive, press the eject button and it will eject the disc. It might mess the wii up but it is worth it to get your game disc out.
i have seen this before... there is a little eye inside the ps3 bluray drive that senses when a disc enters and starts turning wheels with rubber feet on them to pull the disc in. when that eye goes bad for what ever reason the only way to get it to accept discs is to force it in slightly and it will spread the acceptance arms and pull it in. if it will not eject the disc correctly then the drive has been disassembled and needs to be reseated until it function right.
the acceptance eye is fairly cheap to buy online but can be a pain to replace if you dont know what you are doing.
If it wont Eject try going into my computer right clicking the drive the Disc is inserted in and clicking eject, I find that works for me when my laptop screws up like that:P
Turns out my suspicions wre correct about the DVD player being "sluggish" from lack of use. By continuing to exercise the drive motor by hitting play and eject while simutaneously attempting to insert a disc finally paid off. Now it readily accepts the disc and everything is functioning as designed. Trust me, I'm not going to let it sit idle for anymore extended periods...................baltogas
The player thiinks the CD is still in the player. you have a shorted or open sensor. Usually thee players have 3 phto sensors to tell the controller that a Disc is inserted , or ejected or present. Sometimes a wire or piece of lint covers a sensor and makes the controller think the CD is still there. Get you a can of Air from Radio Shack and blow out the DVD drive You might get lucky and this do the job.
