Won't respond to cradle/charge

Hello all, This week I noticed that when I try to connect my F40 to its cradle, the charge indicator does not come on, nor does it recognize a USB connection. If the Gigabeat is out of the cradle, it does recognize a USB connection, but the charge indicator still does not come on when I piug the adapter in directly to an outlet (NOT using the cradle), What is wrong and how can I fix this? I have only had this Gigabeat for about two months, bought it from Office Depot online. I tried shutting off the battery and restarting but that didn't work. Help?

SOURCE: Touchpad won't work on my Gigabeat F40

Mine did the same, touch pad became erratic then stopped working, I could still access everything when linked to a computer. Then all stopped, on power up I got a 00000010 or 0000020 error and nothing.

I popped the end caps off, removed the two small screws holding the back on and found the strap of wires connecting the hard drive was almost completely dissconnected. Pushed the connector back together , reassembled and now all working

SOURCE: Driver files for Toshiba Gigabeat MES30VW

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Mint Plus Turbo Charging Cradle won't function properly

Cradle and contacts are fine. Cradle circuit is nothing but a reed relay and few wires, relay closes on proximity to robot's body, therefore no voltage on contacts before robot is close to cradle.
There is a thermistor inside of battery, and mine was bad. I removed it and now I am charging the battery from my bench power supply at about 220 ma current, overnight, and it works. Probably the solution is to get a new replacement battery, but the one with the thermistor inside (OEM), easily recognized by the third wire, and all should be fine, assuming that nothing else is wrong with charging circuit or power adapter (12v/1A)
Hope this will give you some ideas of where to poke.
Once successful, please post your solution.

Hello,

Your units powered cradle has probably died out, this is very common with the 7xx series, see if you have a friend or someone that has the 7xx cradle you could try. But it is a very common issue, if you do need a replacement one can be obtained from here http://www.gpscity.ca/garmin-nuvi-700-series-cradle-replacement.html

Hope this helps!

My Harmony One remote will no longer charge. I took the battery out of it and place it in my Harmony 880 and placed it in it charging cradle. It started charging. I know it is not a battery issue. Yes...

This is a common problem for these remotes. Constant handling of the remote results in dirty charging contacts located on the bottom of the remote. Oils and acids from your fingers and hands also dirty the charging contacts. Also the contacts on the charging cradle can become dirty and have been known to not make solid contact. I would recommend cleaning BOTH the charging contacts AND the cradle contacts using a Q-tip and some good quality rubbing alcohol.Be careful to just wet the Q-tip and gently scrub the contacts only. Careful regular maintenance should help you resolve this problem. Also you could check the Logitech website for recommendations on how to clean their equipment. You can also try the rubber band trick!! Which is while placing the remote into the docking cradle, listen for a beep which indicates a solid connection. While still maintaining a solid grip on both charger and remote wrap a rubber band around both devices. This should ensure a good connection while the remote is charging! Good Luck!

My H5450 won't charge!

When you charge up your iPaq, do you use the cradle, or do you use the AC-adapter with the little iPaq power converter that came with the iPaq? Try both, and see if it charges up your pda. Try and borrow an iPaq car-charger and see if it charges up that way (the ones that do not need the iPaq power converter). If you are lucky enough to power up the iPaq even for 2 minutes, enable USB fast charging in the SETTING -> BATTERY. Your USB-data-cable or cradle will then be able to charge it up that way...
