How do I connect an external microphone to my Toshiba Salellite Laptop computer?

Right click over speaker icon (next to your clock right bottom corner), click recording devices. Clic on your external mic, clic on properties, at bottom on the new window select "use this device (enable)"

Do toshiba satellites c655 have a built in mic?

The Toshiba Satellite C655 does not have a built in microphone, but it does have a mono microphone jack.

You may verify at Toshiba's C655 website. It says "No Webcam and microphone built into LCD bezel". http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/C650/C655-S5049
Compared with the L670. It says "Webcam and microphone built into LCD bezel". http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite-pro/L670/L670-EZ1710

There is a built in mic but you may have to turn it on from the control pannel. You may also need to adjust the volume as well. If that doesn't help go to the link below and download the drivers

Microphone should be located on the lid of laptop above the screen by the latch release button. You will see a small rectangular hole (if you have a built-in webcam it is to the left of it)

I got microphone on my laptop toshiba satellite L555D but its not woriking

sounds dumb but i have a toshiba sign up with scype the video msg. system dont buy any credits or anything takes like 5 mins and on the screen at the end it will do a sound check with a levels meter if its working youl see it move with sound. Also check the sound levels in computer settings its in there like 3 diffrent places the level is probl. turned down.

No mic output

Possible fault in the connector or the shielded wire, fault in the cord.
IF the continuity is good , tested with a multimeter then the microphone switch and finally the coil continuity must be checked. If coil is open you will need help.

Yes. You most definitively can. Just be sure to set the messenger program you're using to use the mic in the camera. It's easy, ask for help here and you'll get it. But be specific.

This is quite normal. You have to avoid getting the sound from the speakers to the microphone. Either keep the volume lower or change the direction (mic - speakers).
