My Lenovo T60 will occasionally and randomly switch to a blank screen of a solid color (different shades of off-white) or a dark blue (almost black) like it's just coming out of the screensaver. I can resolve the problem by pressing Fn+F7 which tries to switch to the external display (Which I do not have) and then pressing it again which will bring it back to the laptop's display and restore the picture.
Hello you just have to upgrade the driver for the graphic card.
You can also use windows update
Visit lenovo here:
Or use the autodetect function
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-62928
If it not helps with the driver your display has a defect
its not a easy task to change the display.
The local computer repair shop should be able to help you with that.
Good luck

Sounds like the lcd is toast.
Hook the laptop up to an external monitor and see if you get normal video. If you do, chances are it's the lcd. You'll have to replace it.
SOURCE: Thinkpad T23 screen problem
If you take the casing apart on your monitor and pull the chip out gentley, look at the ribbon wire that goes from the monitor to your computer. It may be cracked from opening and closing. That is what was wrong with mine and it sounds like we have the same problem. I had to use another montintor until my tech group could get me a new one. Hope this helps.

First of all, you have to check whether you can see video signal with surrounding light tilting the screen.
If you can see dim image, all you have to do is replace back-light inverter or fix it. Usually, the fuse is open and you can connect it by simple soldering.
If you can't see dim image, it is another problems.
Give it a try.

This sounds to me like either your flourescent lighting tube is beginning to go bad ,,, or the inverter is going bad ... or even both. :-)
The cheapest and easiest solution for you is to simply replace the LCD screen (replacing the inverter or the tube are actually a bit cheaper, but not quite as easy to do - most computer repair centers will try to talk you into a new screen anyway). This is actually very simple for either you or someone you know who is an avid "do-it-yourselfer". IBM makes ity very easy. You will find easy, detailed instructions in the ThinkPad 600/600E (2645) Hardware Maintenance Manual, IBM S10L-9619-03 June 1999 available for FREE downloading in .pdf format on IBMs website. Follow this link to some really sweet deals on LCD screens for your 600e on eBay for under $35.00. http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=ibm+thinkpad+600e+lcd+screen&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_sop=12&_dmpt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&_odkw=IBM+tube&_osacat=0
Remember you can always connect an external monitor to your ThinkPad until your new screen arrives if you have one. The manual should also give you instructions to change out the tube if you wish to save a few more bucks and try that route. Hope this will FIX-YA! Please leave your feedback and let me know!
