Chances are the formatter board on your printer is going out, if it is still under warranty i'd call dell otherwise prob cheaper to get a new one

Check estimated ink or toner levels for your printer to determine if you need to replace any cartridges.
NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, consider having a replacement ink cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace ink cartridges until you are prompted to.
Many HP printers display ink and toner cartridge levels on the control panel. Look for an ink drop or cartridge icon or an Ink Levels menu to check the status of each cartridge.

Usb printer status is not available while connecting the cable of printer to the laptop windows xp

Have you installed the printer driver and software for the unit. If not, download from manufacturers website at support.
You can then enable USB/wireless, which ever is your preference.

I can not get anything to print on my Epson NX420 using my IMAC. It says the printer is offline and I can't even print a test page. Can you help?

I'm assuming the printer worked previously from the iMac and now it does not. If you never had it connected, please add a comment to this effect, and include your OS version.

First, Open the Print Center (Printer Utility) and check the status of the printer. It may be listed as stopped. If so, delete any extra print jobs (additional attempts to print the page), then click the Start Jobs icon.

You can verify printer connectivity by clicking Add in the Printer List (if that is not visible, select Show Printer List from the View menu). Be sure to select either the USB or wireless network protocol connection. If the NX420 shows up, you have a good connection. In that case, click cancel and skip the next paragraph.

If you are printing via USB, check the cable (I sometimes forget to plug in my printer cable after downloading from my camera). If you are printing via your wireless network, check the status of the wireless connection from the printer.

Also, in the printer utility window, click the Supply Levels icon to verify that all of the ink cartridge levels are high enough to permit printing.

Are there any error messages on the printer display? A fault detection will take the printer offline.

How do I tell the what the toner levels are in my 3170 FN cartridges?

If you have the complete driver suite installed you should have the samsung stores manager running or available. There should be a S shaped icon near your clock. if you click on that there should be a status section. Click on that and you will get an indication of how much toner. You can also click on the printer in the printers section under control panel and there will be a section there that reports status.

I think you can also get the printer to print off a report but I'm not 100% sure I'm remembering how on that model. Normally the stores manager is the easiest and fastest way.

How to solve 'error S01'?

1. Verify USB cable is connected directly from USB port of printer and the USB port on back of computer. If not, connect directly to both the printer and computer and try to print. If the printer does not print, go to step 3.
2. VERIFY THAT THE BROTHER PRINTER IS SET AS DEFAULT
This is especially important if you use the print icon to print from within applications. If the Brother printer is set as the default printer, it will have a check mark. If it is not set as default:
To set your Brother machine as the default printer, RIGHT CLICK on the Brother printer and select SET AS DEFAULT (PRINTER).
3. VERIFY THAT THE PRINTER STATUS IS READY AND THE PRINT QUEUE IS EMPTY
A. Click on START, RUN
B. Type: CONTROL PRINTERS and click OK.
C. Locate the Brother printer in the list and hover your mouse over the Brother printer icon. Below is an example of what you may see:
Status: Ready (Could also state: USE PRINTER OFFLINE or PAUSED)
Documents: 0 (Could be any number)
D. If there are any documents waiting in the queue, right-click on the Brother printer and select CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS, depending on your operating system. This should clear the queue.
E. If the status states: USE PRINTER OFFLINE, right-click on the Brother printer and select USE PRINTER ONLINE depending on your operating system. This should set the printer driver ONLINE.
F. If the status states: PAUSED, right-click on the Brother printer and uncheck PAUSE PRINTING. This should allow the printer to resume printing.
G. If the status is ready and no documents are in the queue, attempt to print the Windows test page. If not successful, verify the selected port. If USB is the selected port follow step 4. If USB is not selected,change the port to USB, then attempt to print the Windows test page. If not successful proceed to step 4.
4. Turn the printer OFF.
5. Close any open programs.
6. Click Start, Run, type: control printers
7. Right click Printer, left click Cancel All Documents (if available). Confirm if necessary (click OK).
8. Right click Printer, left click Delete. Confirm if necessary (click OK).
9. Left click File menu, left click Server Properties, left click Driver tab, left click print model name, left click Remove button, click Confirm.
10. Close the Print Server Properties window to return Printers and Faxes window.
11. Check that the USB cable is properly connected at both ends.
12. Turn the printer ON.
13. Wait until printer has ready light or green status, watch the Printers and Faxes window to see if printer is automatically reinstalled.
14.a. If printer was automatically reinstalled, right click Printer icon, left click Properties, left click Print Test Page button. If the printer is not automatically reinstalled, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437).
b. If printer was not automatically reinstalled, try a new USB cable. Ifthe printer still is unable to print, call Brother Customer Service at1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437).

I can scan, BUT I can't print. HP PSC 1500 windows 7

Go to control panel and check the printer status, Unplug the USB cable than right click on printer icon and click on delete. Once you do that make sure printer icon should be gone. Than restart the computer. Once computer is Up than connect the USB cable of printer and make sure while doing that , the printer should be powered on. After that printer icon will again reappear in contro panel.

Try printing, it should work

Printer port configuration and Zebra trouble

When you connect a printer to your pc the operating system adds a virtual port. Your pc will typically have 3 physical usb ports but can have as many virtual ports as you have devices to connect to it.

1: Ensure that your printer has media loaded and is powered up and ready to print. Connect the USB cable. You should get a message on pc screen saying device (printer) found.

Open printer driver ( double click on the zebra printer icon - Start/control panel/printers & Faxes/) Click print test page. If it doesnt print you will see a printer icon with a red question mark.on your toolbar, double click on this. This will bring up a small window showing status of the print job, Click printer/properties/ports. Select the next free usb port and click apply. Drag the print status window so that you can see the message in the status window change from Error print to error Restarting. repeat trying each of your usb ports until printer works. start with the higheat usb with highest number and work your way down.
