Whirlpool WRN38RWG6 fridge freezer. Fridge won't cool

1st = try to determine why freezer is not freezing.
fridge is cooled from freezer.
water may not be flowing because freezer is not cold enough to make ice.

Verify freezer door is closing and seals are sealing. If you slam the fridge door closed and the freezer door moves there is a problem.

From what I have read the control board has failed.

The fridge side is cooled by the freezer side. Try unplugging power, open freezer door and let thaw out/defrost.

If the compressor is running it wont be the thermostat, it could be that the system is short of refrigerant you will need to get an engineer to check the refrigerant pressure with their gauges.

My first thought is it defrosting? Look into rear of the freezer and see if ice is building up on rear wall of freezer. If yes manually defrost and let me know what you find. If no I would want you to feel compressor for overheating or look and see if a fan has stopped working while compressor is running. Sea Breeze

I do not understand your question because your note says it is a top freezer, but the fridge is ok?
The bottom section IS the fridge on this type.

Turn Fridge off,leave open for 24 hrs,then shut doors and start.The defrosted water had frozen up high and the fridge then leaks
