Hai, I'm getting a "010A:[SMTP] Password error" when trying to send a scan via e-mail address. How can I fix it?

To scan to email, Administrator email address must be set in the machine (any bogus email address will work too).
Also, email server address must be input as IP address if DNS or WINS is not running in LAN.

How to set up the machine for SMTP authentication. There is no selection to enter the information in network setup on the machine.
Solution
CAUSE: Incorrect soft switch setting.
SOLUTION: Perform the following:
1. Touch utility button
2. Admin. Management
3. Admin. 2
4. Software SW
5. Enter the soft switch mode 380. Set bits 6 and 2 to 1.
6. Re-start the machine. The SMTP settings will now appear in the network setup of the Admin 2 mode to allow entry of the user name and password.

I changed the SMTP address from a name to an IP and that resolved it for me.

The basic requirements are:
The copier must have a valid email address to log in to the server and send messages.
Your network settings must reflect the server and protocol being used.
Usualy mimicing the settings from a computer works as it is basiclly the same thing.
The device should give you different errors if it cannot locate the server as compared to unable to log in.

If you know the ip address of the copier printer, it will be easier for you to add e-mail address. open the internet browser and type in the ip address. admin password 12345678. or use public. Click the scan tab.
