I have an Acer laptop. The number keys on the right hand side no longer work. Numbers 2, 4, 6, and 8 have switched to working as arrow keys? My guess is I have hit a combination of keys and switched it to a different mode. How to get it back to numbers?
You have hit the num lock key. Lookin at pictures I could find on the internet, the Num Lock key is next to the backspace key, and above the number 7 key.
Hope this helps
The keys may stop functioning because of several reasons such as it may have been hit to hard constantly when typing, it could get wet and stop working, or it could be normal wear and tear the best solution to this problem is to replace the keyboard soon as possible.
Thank you

You probably activated the "Num Lock" accidently. Just hold down the FN and look for the key that says "num lock" Now you should have your keyboard back and the numbers will just type when you hit the numbers key. I did this to myself yesterday!

Hold the blue fn key (function key) then press the numlk (numbers lock) this will enable or disable the calculator feature on the keyboard.

It sounds like your keyboard is starting to go. Try plugging a usb keyboard and using that. If your keyboard needs replacing, it may be around $50, but that will depend.

have you or anyone spilt liquid on the keyboard?
do you regularly clean your keyboard?
sorry for the obvious questions but you would be suprised how much chaos it could cause....
here are a few checks for you to do (if you can use a usb keyboard)
1) clean your keyboard of moisture, dirt and grime
2) check your antivirus to do a scan to ensure that the keyboard drivers havent been corrupted by a virus
if still the same then:
3)remove the keyboard and look for corrosion on all pins and/or conectors (corrosion will be a greenish/white color)
if corrosion is found then use a solution (cheapest being vinegar) to clean the pins and/or conectors
if still the same then your keyboards driver maybe corrupt, if so then
download the driver from dell's driver site and install, after the
instilation do a create restore point or back up your drivers (id put
them on a dvd r disk myself) and keep them for future reference.
if this doesn't sort out the problem then it's definately a hardware failure, which means fail......
hope you sort the problem out soon....;-)
