Dysfunctional Head Unit?

I just bought a Jensen MP5610 head unit for my truck. I just wired it today and almost everything is working. Everytime I go to put in a CD it takes in the cd till only about an inch is still sticking out, then spits it back out. I tried using the reset button, hold in for 5 secs, and I tried using the reset button underneath the face of the head unit, another 5 sec. Even after it says the cd player is reset it will not take in the full cd. Please Help

Try a non burned cd and see if it works if not then take it back

Hi, what you want to do is just connect the speaker wires from the head unit straight across to the pre-amp inputs of the amp. If you have a sub, also connect the pre-amp outputs of the head unit to the 2 sub inputs of the amp. Connect the blue wire of the head unit to the turn-on terminal of the amp and connect power wires to both units. May I ask what speakers are you using?

All car stereo's are internaly grounded, so just connect the ground wire to the stereo chasis.

On my recently installed Jensen VM9414, while playing a DVD, I can clearly hear the background noise/music, but I cannot hear the characters voices. I thought maybe it was the setup but have tried...

I've had this problem before, but not on this specific head unit. You most likely have your audio setup to 5.1 or other surround format, yet have nothing hooked up to the center channel output of the head unit.
Unless you've currently hooked up the center channel to an amplified speaker, or gotten out of a surround mode, you're not going to hear anything.

If you do have everything hooked up right and are sure the settings are correct, possibly a blown amp in the head unit.

I was installing some speakers and while drilling, I noticed a spark flew. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I finished the instalation and now none of my speakers work. Ones I didn't even touch....

no such thing as in-line fuses for speakers. Check the main fuse from the head unit. Nothing still? Exchange it.

Wow! I didn't even kow theyhad codes! I have the 9415. Anyway, call Audiovox tech support. Yes, Jensen was bought out by Audiovox. That's why Jensens are actually GOOD now! Don't have the # on hand, but go to their site www.audiovox.com

you are better off getting the wire harness for your vehicle goto circuit city they will have the wire harness you need and the smart cable for the jensen head unit so there will be no cutting just plug it in and go what is the make and model and year of your car ?

My Jensen TV/DVD unit came with a media box as well as the head unit. The media box was the interface where my iPod and XM antenna plug in, and everything is routed via a DIN cable from the media box to the head unit. I'd think you're missing that extra module that allows all the auxiliary hookups.

Yo, I've got the perfect solution to your problem. Pull out the head unit from your dash. Then, remove the wiring harness carefully from the unit. Now, push in the yellow power wire (even jiggle it a little) making sure it's tightly snug the small port of the wiring harness. Then, plug the harness back into the unit and try turning it on. I've found that the wires come lose easily on this unit. hit me back up at [email protected]
