Picture problems I have a recent problem with my Proscan 50 inch. It was purchased 7 years ago and has spent the majority of its time up at my cottage, so has only seen limited use on weekends only. The picture is fine when the TV is first turned on, after about 5 mins, the picture starts to shake & becomes progressively more unstable. After a few minutes of this, the picture becomes completely unviewable. The screen has a big black band in the middle with distorted picture on top and on the bottom. Any help anyone can give me would be very appreciated.

Sounds like a problem in the main power regulator circuit, such as a bad capacitor or regulator IC or transisitor. There are no user serviceable parts inside these sets and every thing is soldered into place. I recomend that you call in a trained service tech to assist you with this repair.

Sams club warranty problem
The bulbs aren't normally covered after the first year. Some extended warranty companies used to cover the bulbs after that, but now since the economy is bad... a lot of companies are trying to save money by not covering the lamps anymore. And the ones that did are handing the warranties over to other companies. You probably will just have to buy one yourself or you will just be chasing your tail.

Proscan is produced by ON Corp. They are a leading producer for most LCD screens used by a large group of TV makers. Proscan used to be a high end RCA product. The CEO of On Corp was the head of the Proscan division of RCA. After Leaving RCA and Beginning On Corp he purchased the right to the Proscan trade mark. Thus a new beginning for a old name. Many people still belive it to be an RCA TV but it is not. It has good ratings in most reviews for TV's in it price range. It is now a sears brand much like Dynex is a Best But brand.
