Plug a lamp in the wall receptical in place of the microwave oven, if okay! it means the main fuse in the oven has blown. There are a number of reasons why this happens, a bad fuse, door switch that has malfunctioned, "common" cracked high voltage diode, shorted capacitor, and an open magnetron. I suggest a professional.

HI,
The most common cause of that is a shorted or blown high voltage rectifier diode.
If
you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical
safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link
is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
More info here: http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
There
should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.Be advised if you are getting a ' hum' noise, then the probability of magnetron is also there.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

First you need to make sure that all "normally open" door switches are closing when you close the door. Next would be the diode. That is a little black thing that runs from one of the capacitor terminals to the chassis. You should have continuity one way, but NO continuity when you reverse test it. It is like an electrical check valve so to speak. If that shows open both ways, or continuity both ways, replace it and you should have fixed your microwave oven. Of course there are a lot of other ways your oven does not work. Get back to me if you need more help.

The most likely cause is a defective magnetron, "heats food" cost to repair will be close to a new microwave oven.

Hi, you have a faulty magnetron, capacitor, or diode that's keeping the unit from heating anything. They have internal fuses, but its good or nothing wood work. You can have these parts checked out at a appliance repair store, but wit parts and labor it may cost more then a new one just to be truthful with you. If you are handy, you can get into the electrical section and may get luck and see which part is faulty just by looking at them, for any blackish, scorching on any circuit boards, a capacitor is a small round or oval shaped part that holds a charge and these sometimes will leak, swell up and crack causing them to fail. If you want, you can try this. If you do have a board, this is where any diodes would be on the face of it, remove it enough to look on the back side for scorching and you can take it and purchase a new one and be back on line. These are just some options you may want to try. It may be something like a capacitor that is very easy to change out. This may save you some $$$$.If this is an older model, you may want to look for another, but if its a newer, I would spend the time to do the things I have said. I wish you the best on this, and want you to save your $$$$ on this. Please keep me posted, and would you please rate me on any help I may have been to you? Thank you!
