I have a Kenmore 385.16221301 sewing machine and it makes a loud noise at high speeds

It makes a clicking noise at any speed. But at high speed it makes a loud noise. It sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the machine. It sews just fine, but the noise sounds like it is coming apart.

SOURCE: reverse on kenmore sewing machine 385

I recommend that the machine be serviced by a professional but if you're handy it may simply need cleaning around the reverse cam. To do this place the machine on it's back. You'll need to access the rod that drives the feed dogs and cam mechanism by removing all screws holding the bottom plate of the machine. Remove the bottom plate. Note that when you push the reverse button, while turning the wheel a thin rod moves left which allows a plastic cam mounted to the cam rod to also move left and engages the feed dogs in reverse. If the cam is not moving enough or if too slow, it may be that the rod and cam need cleaning and lubrication. Clean out all lint and lubricate the cam where it moves on the shaft. Try to get it to move more freely without forcing it. When done replace the bottom plate. I just repaired my wifes machine and this solved the problem. Hope it helps.

SOURCE: kenmore sewing machine model 385 16764

There's a website called managemyhome.com which is sponsored by Sears. It's free to join. Go to the Home Manager column and choose Owner's Manuals from the drop down menu.

You can type in the brand name (Kenmore) and model number of your machine. Not all of them are in there but, I did find the one for the 1950280 question. It's a pdf file.

For the 38516764 question, please double check your model number. I received either no response or a Kenmore Elite dishwasher manual in response to my query.

My sewing machine started making a clunking noise

Try a brand new needle. A bent, dull, or damaged needle will cause havoc. Changing the needle frequently is necessary to keep the machine functioning well. It is a "very" inexpensive fix for a lot of sewing machine problems.

Hi, my brand new 7258 Singer Stylist sewing machine screeches too much. I've cleaned it, oiled (Singer oil) it and changed the needle three times already, following brand instructions. Still screeching too...

Without being able to personally troubleshoot, analyze, and diagnose the screeching, no one is going to be able to solve the problem.

That said, for your understsnding of the gravity of the situation, I provide the following info and warnings!!!!!

Loud screeching like you describe is INDICATIVE OF either a pulley-belt joint slipping at very high speed, OR a BEARING in a high speed application binding, NEITHER OF WHICH IS GOOD!!!!!

To prevent possible total destruction of your machine, I strongly suggest the you unplug it UNTIL you can get it to a QUALIFIED repair TECHNICIAN for troubleshooting.

The symptoms you describe are indicative of a very serious problem which could result in severe damage to your machine!

could possibly be that your wheel belt it to tight. Possibly you need to oil the stitching arm and other areas their should be small holes on sewing base and one on top beside the where the sewing arm is located
