The freezer not freezing, first inspect that is the fan in freezer running or not running. If the fan is not running then problem is with fan.Get the fan checked. Also many a times frost gets build up on the fan blades and that blocks the fan from running. In that case it has to be defrosted.-------- -------------- The actual cause of freezer not cold, is weak compressor. When the compressor gets weak, the freezer section will cool less. And then slowly --- slowly it will stop getting cooled and later on it will effect the fridge section cooling too.--------- READ the working procedure of your refrigerator.------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. ----------- But before you get replaced any thing, first try reset procedure, its called defrost reset procedure:----

The manual defrost reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. Then check, if the same problem is noticed, then its compressor issue and needs to be inspected.--------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a Kelvinator upright freezer model k330uf the bottom section does not work

Sounds like its got blockage.
There is a channel that allows cold air to "fall" into the bottom chamber. There is also a return. Typically the "fall" chamber is choked with either something that fell in and was trapped, frozen solid with ice or algie has grown and closed the hole.
The best thing to do is empty it completely and inspect the drop channel.
Put all your frozen goods in ice chests to keep them from thawing out.
Good Luck.

Freezer is not even keeping ice cream from melting..and the 2 slots at the top in the back by the top shelf?? Are filled with IVE

Do an old fashioned dethaw of your icemaker. Remove food in compartment, unplug or turn off freezer. Leave doors closed, and get a thick towel and a pot of boiling water. Place the towel under the pot, close the door, and let the heat from the pot warm up that frozen freezer vent. That will clear the ice so the fan can draw cold air out into the freezer

Upper part of freezer not freezing

  • When the top half of a freezer is not working properly it is a sign that the air circulation within the freezer is not functioning. In other words, the freezer refrigerant is still working properly, but the cold air it produces isn't going anywhere: Instead, it is sinking to the bottom of the freezer (heat rises) where it does an excellent job of keeping that half of the freezer cold while missing the top section entirely.

  • The air circulation problem is usually caused by a fan issue. Find where your fan connects to the refrigerant system and pumps the air out into the freezer. If the fan blades are stuck or frozen, you may be able to loosen them or replace the fan. If the fan works mechanically but does not turn on the problem lies with the motor instead. In this case, you can replace the motor or call a professional it may also be fan or evaporator

The freezer compartment does not seem to be working properly. Top part an everything is frozen but further down it it less cold an on the bottom draw the ice is slowly melting

From your indications, it sounds like your evaporator fan is not functioning and evenly distributing the cold air throughout the freezer.

Try to defrost the freezer and see if the air valve opens and closes properly if all of that works then there is a problem with the fan that moves the cold air into the refirgerator

Our chest freezer isn't keeping food on top frozen although the bottom is still frozen solid?

Hello,

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Hope this help in solving the problem....

What could be causing my 7 year old upright Frigidaire Model FFU21K2CW0 Freezer to NOT freeze? The inside (of the compartment) coils feel cold, the seal is good, but the ice cream is VERY soft. The...

Your freezer is probably running constantly as well. Lift the bottom vent panel (the one with all the holes in it) and look at the bottom of the back panel. There should be a half inch gap for the cold air return. If you see a solid wall of ice in that gap your coils have frozen over. You need to clean out the freezer and defrost it. Look in the back near the compressor. If your model does not have a drain plug in the bottom then you need to leave the door open and mop up the water as it melts off the coils from the inside. If you can, wheel it outside on a dolly and let it defrost where it can drain on its own. After you are sure it is totally defrosted, plug it back in at a control setting of 5 for at least 4 hours, preferrably overnight, and check the temp. Setting the freezer at 7 will encourage ice buildup. Your problem may be a bad defrost timer, which your local appliance parts store may have.

Hotpoint Mistral frost free fridge freezer.

This is a little hard for me to understand being a yank and all. 0C is 32 Fahrenheit, right so 4/5 is about 40? make sure everything is working, compressor , evaporator fan motor (the one inside) condenser fan motor (the one outside) if you have one. You should have an adjustment for freezer and one for the fridge sections, right. The fridge section controls what amount of cold air comes from the freezer compartment. Check the vents inside, make sure they are not blocked and they open and close when you adjust the control. If this all checks good then check the thermostat. If the compressor shuts off prematurely, then a new thermostat may be in order. If you think you can do this, find the thermostat, by-pass the wires. this will make the compressor run continuously. After 20 minutes or so it should make the desired temperature or close to it. None of the fans or compressor should turn off while this is by-passed.
