My 1905FP Dell monitor powers up and the screen is normal for about 3 - 5 seconds and then goes black. Turn it off and then on and the screen goes thru the same routine as many times as you want to turn off/on. Tried another monitor and eliminated the computer and video cable as the problem.

Bad monitor

The monitors inverter seems to be failing. If you look up close, can you see a very faint image of the desktop?

You should think about getting a new monitor it might be cheaper than repairing.

Screen flashes on for few seconds and turn black? Does the same on another PC?. It may ahve bad caps as hsown in my albums.

You may have bad caps (leaking/bulging tops) in the power supply or blown fuse. This is what the board looks like.

You have either power supply or inverter circuits failure, worst case will be lamps.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). • 1) TAKE OUT YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
• 3) NOW HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS.

That will drain any static electricity that has built up on your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen. After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.

Replace your battery.
Restart!

no it is not....conection problem

The problem is not with your screen. Its the problem of Video Card of your system which is unable to send Video Signals to the Screen.

This is a common indication of a failure in the power supply. There are parts called capacitors that are used in the filter section of the power supply, when they go out the power supply can't properly turn on so you get no picture and a flashing power light.
