Any suggestions as to why there is a slow response time when my camcorder is connected to my PC. I have XP SP2, and USB 2.0, but I am not sure if the connection cable is 2.0 (not sure if that would make a difference?) When connected, the images are choppy and when I record to transfer to DVD, I run the recorder for 30 seconds, but only about 2 seconds of video is captured and it looks like it is in Fast Forward mode. I tried both the Image mixer software from Sony (the VCD 1.5 version that comes with the camera) and also Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 with the same results. So I think it might be a connection issue. Thanks in advance for any responses.
The problem is dropped frames. A firewire connection would be better, but your system is a bit small and slow for video. You really should have a second drive to store the video on. Right now, the drive is trying to service all the software running plus the capture on a single communications channel. Plus, the 30gig may be disorganized. You may want to defrag it. Then be sure that NOTHING else is running while you do the capture. Screen savers, virus checkers, etc. should be turned off. See if that helps.
The lesson I learned was connect such with Firewire. And having an USB 1.1 cable is always a bad idea for USB 2.0. It may or may not work.
