How to reset an HP printer waste ink tank aborber (only work on certain models) Second Method

Press and hold the “left arrow” key.
Press the “Setup” key and release both keys.
Display should say “Enter Special Key Combo”
Press and release the “OK” button.

The Display should say “Support” and display the FW rev (something like R0616R)

Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”.

Press and release the “OK” button.

The display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to “Hardware failure status”,

Press and release the “OK” button.

The display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”.

Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue”.

Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the “Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears.

DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.

Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.

Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer

Turn the unit on. The printer may display the message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER” followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”.

Press OK. The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.

To verify printer functionality print a SELF TEST PAGE. If SELF TEST prints, then printer is ready for use or Software Installation.

error code 0xc18a0201

Hi.

The code means Ink System Failure. First disconnect power cord to reset the printer and test using different cartridges.

If that does not work try the procedure below:

"Press and hold the "left arrow" key.

Press the "Setup" key and release both keys.

here.. check this out. a solution to your problem.
These are reset instructions designed to clear most of hp errors starting with 0xc...It works on different hp models.. it could work on you too.

Semi reset
1. While your printer is on.. unplug to power cable from the printer.
2. Press and hold the "OK" and "HELP" buttons while you plug the power cable at the back of the printer. Try these steps to reset your printer to default setting.

Full reset
1. Press & hold " * " key...(asterisk sign)
2. While holding the " * ", press "#" key and then release both keys..."Enter Special Key Combo" will be displayed...
3. Press "1", "2" and "3" to display Support...
4 Press ">" right arrow button and release when System Config Menu appear....then click OK
5. Press arrow key to display Hardware Failure Status...click OK....
6. When Hardware Failure Status:Clear appeared, press "OK" to clear...
7. Press "OK" again to display "Hardware Failure Status Cleared. Press Cancel To Continue".....
8. Press "CANCEL" as many times to display "Welcome To Photosmart Express" or "Ink System Failure".....
9. The last part is to turn off the printer and unplug at the back...wait for 30 sec, then plug and turn on the printer...if asked, press "OK" to continue and allow the "One Time Ink Initialization" to proceed..After this try to print...

Try the following tricks:

OK I had the hp error code 0xc18a0001 problem and here is the conversation I had with the tech...

1. We Jam [arrow To the left], afterwards press the button "Adjustment (Setup)", afterwards release - appears the menu "Enter Special Key Combo".
It Is Recommended, but me this did not be necessary: Jam both buttons "Seal photo (Print Photos)" and "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)", afterwards release them. Hereon press and release by turns "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)", "Seal photo (Print Photos)", "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)".
2. Now we press [arrow To the right] until we shall move to point "System Configuration".
3. We Press OK.
4. We Press [arrow To the right] until we shall get to "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear". If beside You printer works orderly, that this point in menu not will. It is Important: not to print hereon!
5. We Switch off the printer, include once again.
