Inserted brand new ink all

If doing several cleanings does not help, most likely the printhead needs replacement.

Try calling the manufacturer and telling them about the problem; they may allow a 1 time warranty repair.

thanks

Brother mfc-240 c will not

You should begin by checking to  make sure the power cord is connected.  I'll assume it is.  Check in Windows "Printers and Faxes", make sure the printer is listed and that it is selected as the default printer.  Next, remove and reinstall the printer drivers.  It would be advisable to download the latest version of the drivers from Brother.  Here is the link: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc240c_allWhen you get to that page, select your operating system, the language required, then click "Search". It should take you to the download page for your printer's drivers.

Why can't I fax long distance. It says error 20

Hi,

The best i can suggest you is to reduce the fax speed from the setup menu and also pause for a second after dialing the area code.

Also, Check for any static on the line as any minor disturbance or error on the telephone line will result in fax failure. Get your telephone line checked

Error message of clean unable 46

The error message "Print Unable 46" is an indication that the machines ink absorbers are almost full. The ink absorbers hold liquid and dried ink after it has been purged from the print head. These absorbers can control enough ink for the expected life of the machine.

There is a possibility that this message may have occurred in error. Upgrading the firmware of the Brother machine may resolve the issue. Follow the procedure below to determine if a firmware update is required:
-if the display screen is displaying an error message, press the STOP/EXIT key to change the LCD to the main screen.
-press the # and * key at the same time. The first 2 characters on the top row will determine the ROM version.

If the ROM version is OE or greater (example: OF, OG, OH, etc), the firmware does NOT need to be upgraded. If the ROM version is OA, OB, OC or OD, follow the procedure on this link to upgrade the firmware.

If the message "Print Unable 46" continues to appear on the display the Brother machine after completing the firmware upgrade and your machine is within warranty (even if it's not under warranty you have to do the same thing), you have to take it to a Brother Authorized Service Center. http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/002600/000059/faq002659_000.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc290c_all&Cat=11

I lost the cd for the printer can I down load it

You can download it from the Internet at the Brother website and then install it on your computer. However, I believe Windows 7 or Vista already has the drivers for most printers embedded in the operating system - you merely plug the device in and Windows will detect and load the drivers automatically. Sometimes, if it's not, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet and allow Windows to search for one online.

Message "Clean Unable 46" help me

dear friend,

These steps worked in MFC620CN/420CN/410CN/210C/240C and FAX2440C model.

To reset purge counter

1) Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC240C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.

FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).

Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the "up arrow" key four times to enter the maintenance mode).

2) Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).

3) Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.

4) Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.

5) Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.

6) Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state.

enjoy & cheers

I NEED MAGENTA COLOR TO PRINT DOCUMENTS IN BLACK?

No. You need only the black cartridge. However, if your M cartridge is empty, it will not allow you to print. You can fool the printer into believing that your M cartridge is not empty by taking it out from the printer and putting an electrical tape/ black (light-absorbing) tape on the cartridge's 'eye' - which is at the 'back' of the cartridge through which you can actually 'see' the ink.

My mfc-240c all in one

Hi,
I had this same problem and it is an easy fix. It is similar on all brother printers but mine was a 5860CN.

Lift the lid on your printer and at the back you can see the opening where the print head is.
With the power off, use your finger to move the print head into the middle.
Now feel under the lip of the cover at the front of the gap and you will find a plastic strip that runs from one side to the other. This is the encoding strip and it what the print head uses to read where it is. This encoding strip is easily pushed out of position when a paper jam occurs and all you need to do is to get it back into position. Using both hands use a finger on either side of the print head and lift the encoding strip upwards slightly and move slightly towards the back of the printer. This will locate it back into the correct position in the print head when you release. You can feel this with your fingers. Power back on and the problems will be gone!
Remember and be gentle so as not to damage the encoder strip!
