Hi, Please check it power cable or power board, if power section ok or working. Then check you printer connection or not. Check printer cartridge shot or not detect. Check it printer head, if header not working then not print coming. Check it your printer driver installed or not, if installed may be some problems then your printer not working. Try holding go button until light flashes and release.

I had the same problem and Brother tech support walked me through this procedure which worked fine..

1. Power Unit off

2. Open front cover

3. Press and hold GO and turn power on

4. When all 3 lights lit release and press GO twice

5. All lights turn solid

6. With all solid, press GO 5 times

7. Ready light GOes red

8. Close door and you're all set

The Brother HL-2040 machine does not have and cannot be fitted with a duplexer to print both sides of the page automatically. You can only duplex manually, that is - you turn the page over and put it back in the machine to print on the other side. Some settings will allow to print double sided manually, where the printer prints all the odd numbered pages then instructs the user to place ALL the printed stock back in the paper tray to then print all the even numbered pages.

suggest you bring your orinter to the nearest authorised repair center. There might be parts to be replace
