I have a 2003 1500 Chevy silverado. The starter continues to run after the key is released. I had replaced the starter, and a note with the starter stated this. The PCM controls the starter relay on input from the key switch. I wait a few seconds to let the fuel pump build up pressure. This just does not sound right I bought the truck three years ago, and was told to "wait a few seconds" before I start the engine...This just does not sound right. All the technology we have, and I have to deal with this? Well, this problem has worsened over the past two months. Hopefully I will not have to drop the gas tank to make a repair...Any suggestions? Is there any other problems I could be experiencing that could actaully mimic the "ghost cold start?" thx

You need to replace the relay or the ignition switch, check for power to the relay in the crank position,[pin 85 or 86] in the plug the relay was taken out of to see if the power to the relay goes away as soon as it is in the run position. If so replace the relay,if not, replace the ignition switch[not the key switch the switch the key switch turns].

2001 Chevy Silverado brake caliper not releasing.

Lots of video help in the link. Some vehicles have a shim kit which you have to buy as an extra part kit. Mine does.

2000 chev wont start at key

From the ignition switch there is a yellow wire that is for the starter. probe it when trying to start. If you have no voltage replace the switch. Also, I believe there is a fusible link in the wire by the starter. It will be a different color than purple. Probe on the back side of it to see if there is voltage at start up. If so, replace with the smae color link.

My remote start was working fine and now it starts the 2003 chevy silverado but the truck shuts right back down.

Does the truck start and run when you start it with the key? If it does then you have lost continuity from the remote starter module. Check the wiring that has been added to your ign. switch it may be just a loose connection.

After starting my Chrysler town and country and when I release the ignition key back to run position the starter continues to run. I then turn off the ignition key and the starter still runs. The only way...

You will need to replace the starter and or solenoid as the starter drive is not disengaging the starter gear and power is constantly being fed to the solenoid. Don't drive the vehicle this way as the starter drive will burn up and possibly strip the starter gear which is a much more major problem to fix.

1994 Chevy Silvrado Starter Problem

It’s your solenoid that is getting hot and the engagement washer inside is what is sticking. There is some heat shield material you can get from the auto parts store to shield you solenoid.
