I would look for bad door gaskets. Sounds crazy but if you have bad gaskets, you will let in more moist air and the freezer will freeze up faster. If the fridge is freezing up I would look at the slide from the freezer to the fridge and see if it is stuck open. During the defrost cycle the unit should drain and fill the drain pan, but the normal operation of the compresser should be able to evaporate the water with ease.
Look at the door gaskets and the vent.
Good luck
you can adjust the control for the freezer side to a colder setting think of the freezer control as a door warmer setting door open farther colder setting door farther closed the fridge control is electric that runs the compresser can turn fridge down to creat more cooling freezer or set freezer to colder setting it is a balancing
act have actually closed freezer control to coldest setting and had items freeze in the fridge side where air from freezer first enters fridge a lower temp in freezer should help ice production
turn freezer to higher temp and turn fresh to lower temp this maximizes airflow into the refrigerator. check the door that regulates airflow into fresh side..see if its stuck closed for some reason. good luck! :)
most fridges have a evaporator dish or container. it must be emptied ...and cleaned and disinfected.
now-a -days they are usually mated with the compressor and cool this unit down. notice there is no coil along the back of the fridge...it is usiually behind the fridge at the bottom with a cardboard or plastic access cover... this will make the unit cool better and return the cooling to normal.... \next clean out your freezer...i bet it's full of 4 month old packs of something you'll never eat....this will let the freezer breathe and circulate air to the coil ...i bet it has 3 in of ice on it...yikes...your not alone...most people do this...\ get a freezer if your getting ready for the apocalypse and liberate some room. good luck
i don't know jennair specifically being from england. however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed
defrost problems are caused by 3 things
bad:
1) defrost timer/ timer board
2) defrost heater (in freezer) or burnt wire going to the heater
3) bi-metal thermostat (round metal piece attached to the coils with at least 2 wires going to it)
a good technician can test components without the machine running. all you need is a simple $5 meter
any tech that gets angry, show him/her the door!
Refridgerator is 5 years old. Simply went out of cooling and freezing. Still makes operating sounds and lights work but losing our freezer full of food is disturbing on a refer only 5 years old. What could be wrong?
make sure the two vents inside freezer and refridgerator nside are not blocked....normal range is approx -15 to + 15 in freezer,...and 37-42 in fridge...take temp readings inside of both....a full freezer and fridge retian colder temp more...
