possibly the DMD chip goes bad, you can try to disassemble your tv, and take out the DMD chip, when carefully inspect its mirror, whether you found any lines or white pots in it.

if it had lines or white pots, you have to replace it.

check the voltage at vertical ic must get 24volt dc then replace the IC that all

Did you mean the picture is collapsed only in the middle horizontally(white line appears on the middle part of the screen)?
If that is the case, maybe vertical IC failed or loose connection.

The problem is sometimes caused by the vertical output integrated circuit (IC) failing, but usually it's bad solder connections. If you or someone you know is comfortable with electronic soldering, a few minutes spent resoldering the IC pins to the circuit board will often solve the problem. Failure of these connections is common because the IC gets quite hot (and it's mounted on a metal heat sink). The heating and cooling cycles cause the solder joints on the circuit board to crack. You can usually see the trouble with light and a magnifying glass; gray grainy joints instead of shiny connections, and often visible ring cracks around the pins.

I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.

have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?" I would love to save the TV. Hi nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn. "Vertical Collapse?" means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen. this problem can be solved 1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose 2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer check components in vertical section or print loose regards thanks

The 20F530T uses the relatively newer ITC008 chassis. If the picture collapses down and only a small bright line is visible, it means that your vertical output IC has stopped working correctly. This could be due to a defective IC, cracked solder joints on the IC or the power supply that feeds it. The IC should be replaced or resoldered and/or the vertical power supply restored by an experienced tech familiar with the new line of RCA TV's.
