Toshiba 2877DB - C7SS Chassis - UK
Problem started with occaisional appearance of very fine 'scratchy' hrizontal lines, although picture still clearly visible. Turning off then on seemed to 'reset' the TV back to normal. The problem has now worsened (unless it's a seperate problem) to a very intense white (mostly) but also coloured horizontal line across the middle of the screen. There are still movements/colour variation as if the whole picture has been compressed into this narrow line. After a few minutes, the screen flickers showing glimpses of the selected TV channel. Eventually, this settles down and a normal picture resumes! Please help. I am a practcal guy and good with a soldering iron.....is this something I can attempt? I'm skint!
I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.
