Re: Protron BBE Digital SRS Wow. Turned on TV and the sound came on but no picture. Pressing the Source button will change the sources but you can't see what it is changing to. The word Main will come on for a second then disappear but I can't see it change to TV, AV1, AV2, component 1, etc. I tried changing plugs but there is no picture using the cable box or dvd players.

SRS means SurRound Sound which is simulated to what is called BBE high definition sound enhancement i believe this was got from a car radio device from the word PREMIO it was a toyota premio
its used in tv sets and hi fi audio and car audio systems and NO its not a tv but a monitor, u will need a dvd car audio thats compatible and given they r custom made for premio u will need the exact march to use it.

can you tell me the model of your protron lcd?

Same thing happened to me. I turned TV off. Then turned it back on holding down both On button & Source button & got the picture back. Doesn't fix it for good. But when it happens, I "fix" it the same way. Happened twice in last three weeks, I'd say. Better than junking it for now.

mali u have a defective lcd inverter board, check the 4 fuses on it if one is blown
change board. its about $8500

litigation- O.k if your tv is cycling through the menu ect. it sounds like you have a bad tact switch.Try pressing the contol panel buttons repeatedly,most of the time the remote is used so the tact switches go bad. Try this out ,it may help to clean the contacts. Just make sure you press them alot,it helps most of the time,if not you may wind up in the repair shop.Have fun and let me know. cooltek Mar,4/08

This TV set is still under the warranty and it seems proton has no local service available to you. I know its to late to tell you this but anytime you purchase a set, ask first and see if there is a service local to you. Ok enough of that noise.. I would go back to the store where it was purchaced and ask them if they know of any local shops that handle the warranty repairs.. If you want to pay for the repair, and that will most likly be alot for a flat panel set, You will have to call back proton and ask about the shipping cost and whos responsible for that.
