Protron PLTV-32CM LCD no picture

Bought this tv back at the end of April 2006. The manufacture date is 9/29/05. TV screen went black but we still had sound on 9/29/06. Exactly one year from date of production. Turned TV off and then turned it back on, the TV automatically shut off. Then tried to turn the TV back on and clicked on (Source) button. The TV stayed on, but still had no picture. Then we changed the (Source) the TV would switch off automatically. Have removed all cables and power supply and switched the manual set to off. Plugged back in power supply and cable and still no picture. Proton was of no help!!!!! They wanted me to send the TV back to them and they would send me another one in 3-4 business weeks. Is this something that could be fixed local? What do you think the problem is?

This TV set is still under the warranty and it seems proton has no local service available to you. I know its to late to tell you this but anytime you purchase a set, ask first and see if there is a service local to you. Ok enough of that noise.. I would go back to the store where it was purchaced and ask them if they know of any local shops that handle the warranty repairs.. If you want to pay for the repair, and that will most likly be alot for a flat panel set, You will have to call back proton and ask about the shipping cost and whos responsible for that.

There has to be an owner solution to this...like replacing a fuse or re-wiring connections..

I received a Protron PLTV-32CM from a friend a couple of years ago and now there is a line of what appears to be dead pixels going from the midpoint to the side of the screen. All that I know is that when...

You have dying screen, it will get worst with more lines start appearing (the X/Y drive circuits are going bad). Not much you can do, new panel will be needed. You can try reseating the ribbon cable between the T-CON and the LCD panel, but I doubt it will cure the problem.

I HAVE A PROTRON PLTV-32CM AND LAST WEEK IT JUST WENT OUT. NOW ALL IT DOES IS WHEN YOU CUT THE POWER ON IT JUST GOES AFTER ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. I REMOVED THE BACK COVER AND ALL THE CAPISTORS LOOKS OK. WHAT...

Protron's mainboards like to fry and a replacement is difficult to find. Protron tvs are built with very cheap parts and don't follow manufacturing guildlines very well and are difficult to find parts for. I would start with the mainboard as the power supplys don't usually fail in these tvs.

Best of luck and please rate if this helped :)

I have a PLTV-32CM flat screen TV that I purchased new in 2006. I want to mount it on the wall now and I have a wall mount that I purchased at the same time but never used. When I went to put it on, it...

Yes, it can be mounted on the wall mount bracket system. You may not have bought the universal adjustable mounting bracket type to match the VESA mounting dimension (the four monting holes spacing measured in mm).

Protron 32" lcd tv

Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby +5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out Q7 and ZD4.

Sound/ no picture

Can't really help you with getting sound out of the tv speakers, but you may be able to use the audio outputs from the TV to a receiver as a work-around.
