Question about Protron PLTV-32 Television

My Protron PLTV-3250 TV goes from TV to component 1 by itself!

I just bought this tv like a week ago. After installing it, I sat down and started watching TV. After some 7 minutes, the source option changed the TV from TV Option to Component Option by itself. I'm able to change it back to TV Option again from my control, but it continues changing to Component. I've already tried reseting the TV and changing some options....but it still continues changing by itself. Is there any one that know what the troubleshoot might be? If yes please tell me or I might have to return it. 12/02/06

my protron 3250 1 1/2 years old , my source changes from component 2 to av1 about every 10 minutes or so, i had the dealer walk through this with me first unplug everything attached they told me never use a power bar wait 30 min then plug everythig back in hold the front button for 15 sec then it should reset itself (in the first 4 months i had it ), it worked for a little while i've called Protron 3 times now my warranty is up so i have this problem. Could this be solved without taking it to a repair shop? thank you for you help

Hi I too have the magic source changing model ! I think the first problem is shop NBC they are a rip off and won't even try to make things good, they sell a product that they KNOW is defective and don't care.

Protron has the worst rep of any tv producer that I can see. They need to get some customer reps that can speek english, no offence intended but when you are upset and trying to reasonably fix your problem the last thing you need to do is ask over and over asking them to repeat what was said ! Granted the reps speak better english than I speak their language but there has to be a better way.

I see others calling for a class action suit and I have to agree, I'm not the suing type but enough is enough.

Possibly the keyboard on the set is cracked or dirty or twisted have you tried to remove the keyboard and checking for bad solder or placed in the set in some way that the keys work without any action from you. Also the switches on the board may be bad replacements can probably be bought a store like RADIO SHACK if it's out of warranty why not give the key board a look?

SOURCE: no power on my protron pltv-3250. any advise?

Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby +5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out Q7 and ZD4.

I had it working about 10 minutes ago and moved the remote and now no signal.. how do I fix this?

-Be sure your TV is on the correct source or input as your CABLE or SAT BOX.
-Press the TV button on TV remote control to turn your TV ON.
-Press the INPUT button on your TV remote control.
-Cycle through all the inputs on your TV.
-Do this until you are on the INPUT your CABLE or SAT BOX is plugged into.
-You should then see the CABLE or SAT programming show on your TV.
HINT: Your TV will most likely list the TV INPUTS as: HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, VGA, Component 1, Component 2, and so on.

T.v. flashes off and on while watching it but doesn't do it when watching dvd's

Dan,
I'm assuming that the source that flashes is sat/cab connection. If the cable types are the same between the dvd and the other source (both hdmi ?) then try swapping them. If not then purchase a cable to swap(keep the receipt and make sure you can return) to see if the problem goes away. If it is a cable/sat/dvr then try unplugging for about 30 minutes and plug back in. If that doesn't work, then try changing the input where the cable plugs into the tv . . . if its HDM1, then move it to HDM2 and make sure that you switch sources on the tv to new source . . .

Channels change by themselves after 20-30 minutes of tv being on

Have you tried covering the IR eye on the front of the TV when this starts occuring? Sometimes other devices in your home can emit infrared light that in rare cases can be picked up by your TV as a command from the remote. If covering the eye seems to stop the problem, I would say my guess is correct. If the problem continues even with the IR eye blocked I would say that the internal tuner of the TV might be defective. good luck!

Sound and Volume trouble

I bought my Insignia 32" LCD in November 2007 - same problem. I figured out that if you press the "input" button on your remote select any of the other options "component 1, composite 1, etc.. that you're TV isn't on -then press "input" again and go back to the component that you're TV plays on - you'll have volume when you go back every time. I've gotten so used to doing it now that it's become habit. 9 times out of 10 I have to do it.

Won't work

It sounds like something in the high voltage (flyback) circuit failed. If any little thing shorts in these RCA's they will not start up. Stargazer
