It seems that my printer mx310 is always offline?

Hi Harry,
Try re-installing the printer again.Disconnect the printer completely from your PC.Uninstall the printers software from your PC and then reboot it.
Insert the installation disk and run setup to install a fresh the printers driver.If you don't have the installing discs,download the drivers from this canon support site.Select the driver that corresponds with your Operating System[Windows XP,Vista etc].

Printer Offline cause if your printer isnot available like if your printer is installed in your computer oflaptop and the printer is not plug in or printer is off. that cause printer offline. right click and look for online and click thats it your printer is online now. if the printer is connected on the network and it is offline it means your printer or your pc is not connected on the network.

on your control panel double click the printer and faxes icon
you will see your printer listed on it. if it's blurred then your printer is not properly connected. make sure usb cable is fix from the printer to the usb slot in your computer. if the printer's image is clear then its connected.
double click your printer's icon. a printer window will appear,.
click on the Printer menu on top of it then scroll down and leave uncheck the "Use Printer Offline"
click OK and close window.

your printer is now online.

Solution: Set printer from Offline to online

Right click on the Printer icon and click on See what's printing

Click on Printer to open the drop-down menu.

Click on Use Printer Offline to remove the check mark and allow use online.

my mx310 only has fax option, no printer options. Do I have my properties wrong?

Is it the printer or the computer that says it is offline. Has the printer been plugged into power and powered on ? Does the printer have a driver for the Canon MX310 ? What OS are you running ?

1. Make sure the printer is correctly connected and powered on.
2. Right click the printer icon (in Printers and faxes) and select "Use Printer Online".

Have you set the network ip for the printer ? if not i would do that first. hope this helped
