Make sure the door gets locked then verify if the motor hums when the relay on the motor controller clicks. Check the resistance/continuity of the motor windings through the carbon brushes and the continuity of the motor wire harness if the motor doesn't hum. Make sure the wier harness is intact and the connectors are clean and snug fit. Replace the wire harness if necessary or the motor controller if the wire harness, the motor windings are all good and the motor doesn't hum at all. Replace the motor if it just hums or if the windings are open.

Washing machine will not drain

Since you've already checked the pump, hoses and motor, here are some additional issues to look at:

1. Faulty timer: Does your machine fill with water and begin agitating, but the cycle never advances far enough to allow the water to drain? The timer that controls the cycles may be broken. Arrange for washing machine repair service.

2. Worn or loose belts: Are clothes still soaked at the end of a wash, even though the washing machine appears to go through the spin and drain cycles? The timer that controls the cycles may be broken. This is a job for the pros.

3. Faulty or jammed internal impeller on pump: When the spin cycle starts, do you hear a humming noise? The internal impeller that moves the water through the drain pump may be faulty or jammed. A grinding or grating sound is almost always an indication of a coin, button or other object colliding with the impeller. Have a washing machine repair expert determine if the impeller is jammed and can be cleared, or if the pump needs to be replaced.

For more troubleshooting steps, see Washing machine won't drain. I hope this helps!

Whirlpool awo d 4305 s draining problem clothes left soaking

Ok, replaced waste pump - slight improvement but clothes still bad... only just seen your solution Mike!!! I didn't even notice a spin control board there, I will check/swap it tomorrow as I've only just put everything back in place(incl. kitchen cupboards etc!).
Is this a common problem with this model?? There's a mountain of appliances near where I work and I'm free to take whatever I can find, I'd say some people just buy a new machine without even checking if the filter's blocked looking at some of these appliances!
Thanks all!

My washer won't spin on spin cycle

Hi rapwizz,

I believe your drain pump filter is just clogged. The drain pump is trying to pump the water out before the Spin cycle, but can't. Usually this is caused by a foreign object that is obstructing the impeller. See my tip on how to access, drain & clean the Drain Pump Filter:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

After this, the Spin cycle will run, after the drainage procedure. If it does not, then you may need to replace the Drain Motor. Which is a easy task.

Kind Regards :-)

I have a GE washer model WBB2090F1WW that does drain but does not spin, you can hear the moter but it dosn't turn durning the spin cycle. Thanks for any assistance.

Hello, This unit does have a belt. Since you hear the motor running but its not spinning i would check the belt the part # is WH1X2026. to check it there are two clips in the top front corners in the gap between the top and front panel you cant see them you slide a putty knife in the gap and pop the clips in and slide the front panel down then you will have access to the belt. It drains because it has a electric pump not controlled by the belt.. Hope this helps..Please dont forget to rate me :)

Will not drain. it does'nt look like its spinning very fast.

The washing machine not draining water. This problem is related to few possibilities. 1) The drain pump is got loose to the drain hose. check the connection from drain hose to drain pump. 2) The drain is blocked by any thing.Like cloth or any thing like metallic nails or coils etc etc. 3) The drain hose is got blocked./The drain hose is not letting the water to enter the drain pump. In most of the cases the drain pump has to be removed and checked for any kind of blockages. Also if the machine not draining can effect the spin cycle. But other possibilities for no spin or slow spin are faulty or broken motor coupler or weak spin motor. The motor coupler and motor both can be possible,if the drain pump and drain hose both checked ok.This will clear the fault. ----------- Keep updated with any more queries.Thanks,.

Fisher & paykel smartdrive 051 stops wash and/or rinse cycles/agitation and continually beeps. have to turn off the power button to restart but often cuts out again after a minute or three. runs...

You have somewhat confirmed the suspected part- the control board - but I think we need to confirm on this.
So make sure that the motor, the drain valve/pump , the inlet valves, are all working OK which means no power drain , no heating or malfunction.
Check the motor in particular if it is shutting off or is consuming or of low speed. Now also check the water level control switch .
If all seems OK check all terminals, contacts, joints and the PCB.
If so the program controller must be faulty.if possible swap a board to finalise.

Washer will not spin and drain water after washing. The timer will run thru it's cycle and you can hear it running but after the wash cycle it does nothing.

The water must drain away before modern electronic controls will allow 'spin' to occur. Check the hoses to and from the pump for kinking and the drain port at the bottom of the outer tub for any debris in the tub that can obstruct water outflow. If all looks ok, concentrate on the water pump itself--the motor must run, but the impeller in the pump may not be turning with the motor shaft. Impellers in these pumps are made of plastic and are lightly splined to the motor shaft. Sometimes these splines shear off and the impeller remains relatively motionless. It might be possible to 'super-glue' the impeller to the shaft or just replace the whole pump mechanism. Hope this helps!

Why won't my washer won't spin or drain

If the water is not removed first, the spin will not occur. Do you hear the pump run when it starts the spin cycle? If nothing, the pump may be jammed with debris, or the motor itself may have failed. If the motor runs, but no water comes out of the drain, then look for a kinked drain hose (inside the cabinet) or possibly a stray sock lodged in the drain outlet under the outer tub. Sometimes the pump impeller will come loose from the motor shaft causing loss of pump action. Hope that some of this helps!

Machine will not switch to drain and spin cycle

If you take the front off in the lower right you will find a pump motor that controls the drain flow. This may defective. Use a shop vac to empty the water in washer if needs be. But remove and test this pump.
